4. Connection of the local PC
As PCs do not incorporate RS-485, some kind of converter is needed to be able to connect the PC to the RS-485
bus of the INGECON units. Ingeteam supplies reference AAX7030 (commercial RS-485 to USB converter).

4.1. RS-485 to USB converter

The RS-485 to USB converter and the relevant connectors for connecting a local PC to the units are supplied with
reference AAX7030.
The list of signals is shown in the following table:

Driver installation
1. Download the driver at www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm.
2. Connect the converter to the USB port of the computer, and the installation will begin automatically.
3. Select the location of the driver.
4. Once the installation process has finished, open the device administrator from the control panel.
5. In the element Ports (COM & LPT) a new COMx port, related to the converter, will be shown. This will
be determined as USB Serial Port or FTDI USB Serial Port (this will depend on the version of the driver
installed).
6. The port number indicated shall be that used in the INGECON SUN Manager software. See Chapter "5.
INGECON SUN Manager".
