Charging the battery out of he Vhicle
To prevent risk of sparks near the battery, some procedures must be observed. Follow these steps when the
battery is out of the vehicle: A spark nearby can cause an explosion. When removing the battery from the vehicle,
first disconnect the ground pole. When disconnecting, make sure all accessories are OFF to prevent the genera-
tion of sparks.
Note: Boat batteries must be removed and charged on land (to charge onboard, it is necessary special equipment
for sea use).
To connect the charger, follow the instructions of the chapter Operation, items 4 a-b. Move the clamp of the
battery back and forth to get good connection.
To select the charging current, and start the charger, follow the instructions of the chapters Technical Features
and Control and Indicators.
Make sure the area around the battery is well ventilated while the battery is being charged. Continue charging
the battery until the display shows "FUL" (FULL).
When disconnecting the charger, first turn off your charger with the on/off switch, afterwards remove the clamp
from the vehicle's ground, and then remove the clamp from the battery terminal, leave your charger plugged in for
at least 5 minutes, this will help in cooling the equipment and will make your product last longer.
Clean and put away the battery charger.
12-Volt Output
The charger has a 12-Vdc output (see Figure 8.1). The maximum output is 10 amps. In order to use the outlet,
follow the steps below:
• Connect the 12-V device to be used to the charger output (Figure 8.1).
• Press the "12VDC Output" button to activate the charger.
• To turn off, press the "12VDC Output" button in the charger again.
ATTENTION
Make sure the device used has a power lower than 120W.It is not possible to use the
12-V output and charge the battery simultaneously.
