7. OPERATION
Before connecting the product to the power supply, check if its voltage matches the line AC voltage (127V or
220V).
Preparing to Charge
1. Check the voltage of the battery in the device manual. Only 12-V lead-acid batteries can be charged with
this charger.
2. If it is necessary to remove the battery from the car to charge it, or to clean the terminals, always remove
the ground terminal from the battery first. Make sure all the accessories in the vehicle are OFF so as not to
cause sparks.
3. Clean the battery terminals. Be careful for the eyes no to be in contact with corrosive material.
4. If necessary, add distilled water to each cell until the battery acid reaches the level specified by the manu-
facturer. That will help purify the gas excess coming from the cells. For batteries without cover on the cells,
follow carefully the recommendations for charging given by the manufacturer.
5. Study all the specific cautions in the battery manual, such as: to remove or not to remove the cover of the
cells during the charging process and which charging current is recommended.
6. Make sure the area around the battery is well ventilated while the battery is charging.
7. Make sure the initial charging current is not above the specification of the battery manufacturer.
Charging the battery in vehicles
1. Place the AC and DC cable in such a way they cannot be damaged by the hood, door or moving parts of the
motor.
2. Be careful with the fan blades of the cooling system, belts, pulleys and other moving parts that can cause
damages or injuries.
3. Check the polarity of the poles in the batteries. POSITIVE poles (POS,P,+) normally have a bigger diameter
than that of the NEGATIVE poles (NEG,N,-).
4. Determine which battery pole is the ground:
• Negative pole as ground (most vehicles): Connect the positive clamp (red) of the charger to the POSITIVE pole
(POS, P, +) of the battery and then connect the negative clamp (black) of the charger to the NEGATIVE pole
(NEG, N, -) of the battery.
• Positive pole as ground (minority of the vehicles): Connect the negative clamp (black) of the charger to the
NEGATIVE pole (NEG, N, -) of the battery and then connect the positive clamp (red) to the POSITIVE pole (POS,
P, +) of the battery.
• Do not connect the clamp to the carburetor, fuel tubing or to the body of the car. If necessary, connect to the
metal part of the car structure or motor block.
• Quando for desconectar o carregador, primeiro desconecte o cabo de alimentação AC, depois remova o
alicate do terra do veículo, e então remova o alicate do terminal da bateria.
5. After connecting the cables, select the charging current and start the charger, as per the chapters Technical
Features and Control and Indicators.
6. When disconnecting the charger, first turn off your charger with the on/off switch, afterwards remove the
clamp from the vehicle's ground, and then remove the clamp from the battery terminal, leave your charger
plugged in for at least 5 minutes, this will help in cooling the equipment and will make your product last
longer.
7. Do not charge the battery whit the motor running.
