replacing Trail Shield
WarninG
Never operate mower unless the trail shield is in place and working.
Never operate mower with damaged safety devices. Failure to do so
can result in personal injury.
The trail shield is subject to wear and damage which could expose
moving parts or allow objects to be thrown. For safety protection,
frequently check the trail shield and replace immediately with original
equipment manufacturer's (OEM) part only, 931-05686.

To remove trail shield, lift rear door and remove screws holding
trail shield in place.
2.
Press shield in on either side to remove from hole. See Figure 14.
3.
Remove shield from opposite hole and replace with new shield in
the opposite order and manner of removal.

bLade Care
Periodically inspect the blade adapter for cracks, especially if you
strike a foreign object. Replace when necessary. Follow the steps
below for blade service.

When removing the cutting blade for sharpening or replacement,
protect your hands with a pair of heavy gloves or use a heavy rag to
hold the blade. Be certain to stop motor and unplug mower.
1.
Stop the motor and unplug the mower. Turn the mower on its side.
2.
Place a 2x4 block of wood approximately 8.5" long between the
deck housing and the cutting blade to act as a stabilizer. See
Figure 15.

Loosen and remove the blade bolt, locking plate, and blade. See
