5.11. Lap belt
A Lap belt can be supplied on request.
6. Use
6.1. Entering and exiting from the
side
Bring the wheelchair and the current or future seat as close to-
gether as possible.
Secure the wheelchair with the parking brake (see chapter 4.7).
If necessary, swing the armrest backwards or remove the side part
(see chapter 4.3).
Fold both foot plates upwards, swing them to the side and remove
them or fold the single foot plate upwards (see chapter 4.2).
Slide sideways onto the other seat. Sit as far back as possible.
Move the leg supports back to the starting position.
If necessary, lock the side parts again.
6.2. Entering and exiting from the
front
Fold up the foot plate or remove the leg supports (see chapter 4.2).
Bring the wheelchair and the current or future seat as close as
possible to each other and apply the parking brakes on both sides
(see chapter 4.7).
Should you wish to transfer from another wheelchair or room
undercarriage, these must also be secured by applying the parking
brakes.
Now slide onto the seat by turning the body.

Finally, hang the leg supports back in the starting position and fold
down the foot plates.
6.3. Climbing over stairs or a high
step
Only the frame and the push handles serve as
holding points.
The helpers only lift firmly mounted frame parts. The lifting points de-
pend on the model equipment.

BX 11 S (with swing-away legrests) (Fig. 35).
To drive up a staircase, the rear helper pulls the wheelchair backwards
up the steps using the fixed handles. The lower helper grips the front
frame tubes and stabilises the wheelchair. In doing so, he presses the
rear wheels of the wheelchair against the steps.
When driving down, the lower helper brakes by pushing the wheelchair
straight against the steps. The upper helper holds the wheelchair by
the push handles, secures it and keeps it in the correct position. The
wheelchair should roll down one step at a time.
For obstacles and stairs with more than three steps,
two accompanying persons must help.
