STEP-BY-STEP INSTALLATION

STEP-BY-STEP
INSTALLATION
1. Before doing any work, check that the
automatic control cubicle is disconnected
from the power supply and cannot
become live.
2. Mount the APF-Cleaner on a symmetrical 35 mm DIN
rail (the rail is supplied).
3. Connect the 24 VAC supply to the input 15, 16 (see
Fig. 2).
4. Connect the current transformers to the
corresponding current measuring input (5, 6; 7, 8).
Current transformers with a choice of four ratings are
available, i.e. 10 A, 25 A, 50 A and 100 A.
The phase conductor of the motor can be run through the
current transformer core an additional number of turns,
(see Fig 3) in accordance with the formula below, in order
to put the available transformer capacity to full use.
rated primary current of current transformer
Number of turns =
rated motor current
(Round down to the next lowest integer value).
Example:
Rated current of motor = 12 A
Primary current of current
transformer = 25 A
Number of turns = 25 A/12 A
Answer = 2
If the rated motor current is in excess of the highest rated
primary current of the transformers available (50 A),
proceed as follows:
a. Use a standard current transformer which has a
primary current rating only just in excess of the rated
motor current and which has a rated secondary
current of 5 A.
b. Pass the lead, connecting to the secondary side of
the standard current transformer, twice through the
Flygt APF-Cleaner 10 A current transformer.
The input current to the APF-Cleaner system can be
checked and should be between 40 and 60 mA.

5. Connect the output relays of the APF-Cleaner
system (9, 10; 11, 12).
- Electronic control
If the station is controlled by an electronic control
system with output relays which control the pump
operation, connect the output relays of the APF-Cleaner
system in parallel with the output relays of the electronic
control system (see Fig 4).

- Control by level regulator
The switch in the stop level regulator is normally
connected in a latched circuit which enables the pump
to run until the level falls sufficiently to open the stop
switch contact. The relays of the APF-Cleaner system
can then be connected in parallel with the stop switches
for each pump..

If there is only one common stop switch, both relays of
the APF-Cleaner system should be connected in parallel
with the stop switch (see Fig 5).
