• Batteries can become faulty over time, individual cells in
the battery can fail, and the battery could short. The
charger will not charge faulty batteries. Use another
battery, if possible, to check correct functionality of the
charger and purchase a replacement battery if a faulty
battery is indicated
•
Do not store Lithium-ion battery packs in a discharged state
long term. This can damage the Lithium-ion cells. For long-
term storage, store batteries in a high charge state
disconnected from the power tool
•
The capacity of batteries will reduce over time. After 100
charge cycles, the battery's operation time and the
performance will slightly reduce. This decline will continue
until the battery has minimal capacity after 500 charge
cycles. This is normal and not a fault with the battery pack
Fitting the Auxiliary Handle
WARNING: To ensure operator safety, ALWAYS use the tool with the
Auxiliary Handle (10) installed.
1. Screw the Auxiliary Handle into one of the three Handle
Location Points (3) located on the gearbox housing (Fig. III)
Adjusting, removing & installing the guard
WARNING: The correct guard MUST be installed for each application before
use. This is a legal requirement.
WARNING: NEVER install a cutting disc or superabrasive cutting wheel
without the correct Cutting Guard (12) in place.
IMPORTANT: Ensure the guard is positioned to provide a barrier between
the disc and the operator.
Adjusting the Guard
Refer to Fig. IV
1. Release the Guard Clamp (17)
2. The Grinding Guard (15) can be moved through a range of
approximately 180°, so that it can be placed between the
disc and the operator at any required work angle
3. Close the Guard Clamp
Note: If the Guard Clamp is too loose or too tight, open completely and
adjust the clamp nut (Fig. IV (c))
Note: There is a Direction Indicator (1) on the motor housing which
indicates the direction of rotation of the disc. This is helpful when
determining the direction of sparks and debris produced during operation
Removing/installing the Guard
Note: this tool is supplied with 2 guards:
•
Grinding Guard (15) for grinding, sanding and wire brushing
•
Cutting Guard (12) for use with cutting discs
1. Remove the disc if fitted (see 'Fitting a disc' section)
2. Loosen the Guard Clamp (17) and rotate the guard until the
protrusion on the inside of the Guard Clamp is aligned with
the cut-out on the spindle housing (Fig. V)
3. Slide the guard off the spindle housing
4. To install a guard: align the guard as described in step 2.
Slide the guard onto the spindle housing and tighten the
Guard Clamp
Fitting a disc
Warning: Ensure you have the correct guard installed for the disc you
plan to install.
1. Insert the Backing Flange (13) onto the Spindle (16)
ensuring a form-fit to the flattened parts of the spindle (Fig.
VI)
2. Insert a disc onto the spindle
Note: If using depressed centre discs, ensure that the
depression is positioned towards the Backing Flange
3. Screw the Locking Flange (14) onto the Spindle
Note: The raised centre of the Locking Flange should face
away the disc when installing a grinding disc (Fig. VII (a)),
and towards the disc when installing a cutting disc (Fig. VII
(b)).
4. Depress and hold the Spindle Lock Button (2), then rotate
the Spindle (16) until you feel the lock engage
5. Use the supplied 2-Pin Spanner (11) to fully tighten the
Locking Flange. When tight, release the Spindle Lock. The
angle grinder is now ready for use
Removing a disc
1. Depress and hold the Spindle Lock Button (2), then rotate
the Spindle (16) until you feel the lock engage
2. Use the 2-Pin Spanner (11) to remove the Locking Flange
(14)
3. Lift the disc off the spindle
Fitting a wire cup brush
1. Remove the Locking Flange (14), the disc (if installed) and
Backing Flange (13) from the Spindle (16)
2. Screw wire cup brush directly onto the Spindle
3. Depress the Spindle Lock (2) and rotate the Spindle until
you feel the Spindle Lock engage
4. Tighten the wire cup brush with a suitable spanner
5. Release the Spindle Lock
6. To remove a wire cup brush, depress the Spindle Lock,
rotate the Spindle until you feel the lock engage, then use a
suitable spanner to remove the wire cup brush
Operation
WARNING: ALWAYS wear appropriate safety equipment. Use of this
tool requires eye protection, gloves, ear defenders, and good quality
respiratory protection.
WARNING: Ensure you have read and understood the Safety and
Before Use sections of this manual before using this tool.
Switching ON & OFF
1. Hold the tool securely with both hands
2. Ensure the tool is not in contact with the workpiece before
switching ON
3. Slide the ON/OFF Slider Switch (4) to the right and forward.
At the end of the forward travel, press the front of the
switch downward to lock it (Fig. VIII)
4. Press the rear of the ON/OFF Switch to release it and stop
the tool
Grinding
WARNING: Only use discs specifically manufactured for grinding
operations. Stone and metal grinding discs are not interchangeable. Use the
correct disc for the application
1. Allow the tool to reach full speed before touching the tool
to the work surface
2. Apply light pressure to the work surface
Note: Excessive pressure does not result in more effective
removal of material, but will in fact cause premature wear
of the grinding disc and will increase wear and tear on the
tool.
3. Keep the tool at approximately 15 to 30° to the work
surface (Fig. IX)
4. Keep the tool moving to avoid gouges
Note: Adapt your technique to the material. A back and
forth action is suitable for most types of metal, but is not
necessarily suitable for all materials
