Wheelbase
21.
The wheelchair's stability and steadiness is improved by extending the
wheelbase.
Conversely, if the wheelbase is reduced, the manoeuvrability is improved.
Reducing the wheelbase is only recommended for experienced riders.
To adjust the wheelbase, undo the four fixing screws which fix the
wheel support (Fig. 21). The wheelbase can adjusted in four positions.
Then refit the wheel support in the recesses provided for this purpose.
Make sure that all screws are firmly tightened.

Attention: risk of tipping over! If you move the drive
wheel forwards or the backrest backwards, then the
risk of tipping over increases significantly. Anti-tip
wheels or a wheelbase extension are required. Check
the settings first with an assistant. Only use settings
which you consider to be safe.
If the wheelbase is changed, then it is essential to
adjust the knee lever brake as well!

Wheels and tyres
Your wheelchair is fitted with PU tyres as standard. If you have
pneumatic tyres, make sure that the tyre air pressure is as given in the
Technical Data, see Chapter 7, this is the only way to guarantee the
very best operational safety.
Please contact your dealer in case of puncher in your
pneumatic tyres.
If the drive wheel or castor is worn or defective, ask
your dealer to service them!

Quick-release axle
As standard the wheelchair has quick-release axles. This means you can
easily remove and refit the drive wheels.
•
Push the lock of the quick-release axle using your thumbs and pull
the wheel off (Fig. 22).
•
When refitting, simply put the wheel onto the receiver. When doing
this, push the locking knob in.
The click you will hear from the quick-release axle will indicate that
the wheel is securely mounted. After fitting, make sure that the wheels
are tight!
