Intended Use

• Mains powered portable hand tool for dry sanding, polishing, die-polishing
and abrasion of flat, curved and shaped surfaces using a range of
replaceable sanding and polishing drums. Suitable for various metals, woods
and other materials.

Unpacking Your Tool

• Carefully unpack and inspect your new sander. Familiarise yourself with all
its features and functions
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any

parts are missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting
to use this tool

Before Use

WARNING: Ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply before
attaching or changing any accessories, or making any adjustments.
Fitting the front handle
• The Front Handle (13) must be fitted to the machine before use:
1. Screw the Front Handle to either the Left Side Handle Thread (12) or the
Right Side Handle Thread (16) to suit the task at hand and operator
2. Angle the Front Handle to the required position
3. Ensure the Grip of the Front Handle is tightly screwed in without over-
tightening
Fitting and removing the sanding drum
IMPORTANT: The Sanding Drum (15) or other accessory must be securely
fitted before use.
IMPORTANT: Always check the condition before fitting and do not fit if damaged
or heavily worn beyond normal use.
1. Remove the existing drum or accessory by pressing and holding the Spindle
Lock Button (11) with one hand
2. Remove the washer and bolt (see Image II), by unscrewing the bolt anti-
clockwise using the supplied spanner. It will freely rotate until the spindle lock
engages, and then it will unscrew
3. Slide off the existing drum or accessory and catch the two drum pins that fall
from the Drum Spindle
4. Slide the new drum or accessory over the Drum Spindle (10). Insert BOTH
drum pins as seen in Image I to secure
5. Press the Spindle Lock Button and re-fit the washer and bolt (see Image II)
Fitting a sanding belt to the sanding belt drum
1. Visually check the sanding belt for damage or tears
2. Check to see if there is a rotation direction indicated on the inside of the
sanding belt and match it to the Rotation Direction Indicator (14) marked on
the tool
3. Slide the sanding belt over the Sanding Belt Drum (17)
4. Check the belt is secure on the drum before use

Adjusting the guard
• The Guard (1) must be adjusted so that it is situated between the drum
• The Guard can be moved through a range of 360°, so that it can be placed
• Loosen the Guard Securing Bolt (8), reposition as required and re-tighten the

Operation

WARNING: ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and hearing
protection, as well as suitable gloves, when working with this tool.
WARNING: Using the steel wire brush drum with steel and other ferrite metals
may cause sparks, which may ignite flammable gas or flammable material, for
example paper, wood dust and metal swarf. Ensure the work area is free of such
materials and ensure there is a suitable extinguisher to hand.
IMPORTANT: Ensure the Motor Vents (6) are kept clean during use. Metal swarf
and wood dust entering the tool can damage or destroy it.
IMPORTANT: Stop frequently while operating to clean the work area and
prevent a build-up of swarf and dust. Where possible have a dust extraction
system operating around the work area.
Switching on and off
Note: DO NOT switch the machine on or off when the sanding drum is in
contact with the workpiece. ALWAYS allow the motor to reach its full speed
before applying load, and to stop completely before placing the sander down.
ALWAYS hold the machine securely, using both hands, on the handles provided
• To switch the machine on, grip the Rear Handle (4) and Front Handle (13)
• To stop the machine release the On/Off Trigger Switch
• The tool can be locked into the 'On' position using the Lock-On Button (3).
Adjusting the tool speed
• The speed of the machine is controlled using the Variable Speed Control (2):
WARNING: Always set the speed control dial to the correct speed for the task
at hand.
WARNING: Never exceed the maximum speed of the installed sanding drum
or accessory.
Polishing tips
IMPORTANT: To achieve a perfectly smooth polished surface do not skip more
than one grit size when switching from a coarse grit to a fine grit.
• Ensure the area to be polished is clean and dry
