Use the following installation procedures in order to prevent premature failure of drive shaft components.
NOTE: Do not bend or deform drive shafts while servicing them.
Never reuse old holes in drive shaft or shaft connector assembly.
1.
Saw the old shaft connector assembly off drive shaft flush at shaft connector end and remove all burrs. Lower drive shaft length
must be a minimum 57 in. after cutting.
2.
Center punch the outside diameter of the shaft connector sleeve (A) approximately 3/8 in. from the open end. Rotate the sleeve 90
degrees and make a second center punch approximately 5/8 in. from the open end.
3.
Slide the shaft connector assembly onto the lower drive shaft (B) as
far as it will go.
4.
Drill through both center punches with a 5/64 in. drill. Finish the holes
with a #40 (.098 in.) drill.
5.
Countersink one end of each hole with a 1/8 in. drill to a depth of
1/32 in.
6.
Tap in straight pins (C) (P/N V620000000) through both holes. Peen the
small end of pins in each countersunk hole to properly hold pins.
IMPORTANT
Painted end of flexible drive shaft coupler (D) must always be installed in clutch drum
socket when assembling engine to drive shaft.
