SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING! When using battery-operated tools,
basic safety precautions should be followed, to
reduce the risk of fire, leakage from batteries and
personal injury.
Read and follow these instructions before using
this tool!
For safe operation:
1 Keep work area clean. Cluttered work areas and
benches invite injury.
2 Consider the work environment. Do not expose the
tool to rain. Make sure the work area is well lit. Do not
use tools in the presence of flammable liquids or gases.
3 Protect yourself against electric shock. Avoid all
bodily contact with surfaces connected to earth or
chassis (for example, piping, radiators, electric cookers
and refrigerators).
4 Keep children away from the work area. Do not
let visitors touch the tool. Keep visitors away from the
work area.
5 Store batteries and tools when not in use. When
not in use, tools and batteries should be stored sepa-
rately in a dry, high place under lock and key and out of
the reach of children. Ensure that battery terminals

6 Do not force the tool. It will do the job better and
more safely at the rate for which it was intended.
7 Use the right tool. Do not force small tools or attach-
ments to do the job of a heavy-duty tool. Do not use tools
for purposes for which they were not intended.
8 Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewel-
lery; they can get caught in moving parts. Non-slip
footwear is recommended when working outdoors.
Wear protective hair covering over long hair.
9 Use protective equipment. Wear safety glasses and
a mask if the operation is dusty.
10 Connect dust extraction equipment. If devices are
provided for the connection of dust extraction or collec-
tion, ensure these are connected and properly used.
11 Handle the supply cord with care (if fitted). Never
carry the tool by the cord or yank it to disconnect from
the socket. Keep the cord away from heat, oil and
sharp edges.
12 Secure the part you are working on. Use clamps
or a vice to hold the work. It is safer than using your
hand and leaves both hands free to operate the tool.
13 Do not over-reach. Keep proper footing and bal-
ance at all times.
14 Maintain tools with care. Keep cutting tools sharp
and clean for better, safer performance. Follow instruc-
tions for lubrication and changing accessories. Inspect
the cord and plug regularly and if damaged have them
repaired by an authorised service facility.
15 Disconnect tools. Where the design permits,
disconnect the tool from its battery pack when not in
use, before servicing and when changing accessories
such as blades, bits and cutters.
16 Remove adjusting keys and wrenches. Form the
habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting wren-
ches are removed from the tool before switching it on.
17 Avoid unintentional starting. Do not carry the tool
with a finger on the switch.
18 Extension cables for outside use. Only use those
cables which have been officially approved for outside use.
19 Stay alert. Watch what you are doing. Use your com-
mon sense. Do not operate the tool when you are tired.
20 Check damaged parts. Before further use of the tool,
a guard or other part that is slightly damaged should be
checked to determine that it will operate properly.
- Check for the correct alignment and free running of
moving parts and whether any other parts are damaged.
- All components should be correctly assembled and in
good condition, to ensure the smooth running of the tool.
- All guards or damaged parts should be properly
repaired or replaced by an authorised service facility,
unless otherwise indicated in this instruction manual.
