TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

The product connects one or two hearing instruments to a general com-
puting device.
It is powered from the general computing device and may provide power
to the hearing instrument(s).
It acts like a communication protocol converter between the general
computing device and the hearing instrument(s)
• The connection to the general computing device uses standard USB
2.0. The product receives its power supply from the USB connection.
The input supply rating is 5V DC 200 mA. The digital data to and from
the hearing instrument(s) is transferred in a company specific format.
• The product is capable of supplying the hearing instrument(s) with
a maximum rating of 2.5V DC 100 mA. The applied voltage is pro-
grammed by the fitting software application.
• The product converts the communication protocol on a physical and a
logical layer. The physical conversion incorporates a galvanic separa-
tion between the hearing instruments(s) and the general computing
device. The part connected to the hearing instrument(s) is classified
as "Applied Part type BF" according to the applicable safety standard
EN 60601-1 and is marked with the following label

The user interface consists of one indicator LED. This indicator LED can
display different colors and may have the following states:
• Green: Ready state. USB connection to general computing device es-
tablished.
• Blue and red: Communication activity to left (blue indicator light) or
right (red indicator light) hearing aid. The red light of the central indi-
cator LED does not indicate a warning as defined in the applicable
safety standard EN 60601-1. The red color is used solely to indicate
that data is being transferred to and from the right hearing instrument.
The product has no user serviceable parts inside.
