USB CONNECTION

The receiver is fitted with a "mini-USB" for connection to a PC by means of which messages
may be sent every time a channel is activated. To use the USB connection the specific driver
will have to be downloaded from the Cardin website and installed. On the PC will be shown as
a serial port which can be accessed with the following configuration: baudrate = 19200, no
parity, 8 bits + one stop bit
When the receiver is connected to the PC
not flashing the receiver is physically present but has not yet been recognised by the PC. The
connection is active and the receiver has been set up when the
display. The receiver is automatically set to operate in the "record events" mode.
The "record events" mode sends a message to the PC each time an output is activated. The
message consists of a twenty-one character alphanumeric string with seven-bit ASCII encod-
ing that carries all the necessary information with which to identify the user that activated the
output. The following is an example of an event message: '> 0001 0000010042 A'.
The limits of the string are defined at the beginning and at the end by the line feed character
(0x0A), while the parameters are separated by the space character (0x20). The message is
made up of four distinct parts with fixed lengths as follows:
- '>': character (0x3E) indicating the beginning of the message;
- '0001': four numerical characters indicating the location of the remote control;
- '0000010042': ten numerical characters containing the remote control's individual code;
- 'A': a letter that indicates the channel to be activated.
