Please read these user instructions in conjunction with other
relevant user instructions and reference leaflets where you
will find information on approved combinations, spare parts
and accessories
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The 3M™ Speedglas™ Task light G5-01 is designed to be
used only with the Speedglas welding helmet G5-01. The
Speedglas task light G5-01, powered by a 3M™ Adflo™
Li-ion Battery, enables welders to light up the work area in
order to get a better view of the workpiece.
^ WARNING
Proper selection, training and appropriate maintenance is
essential in order to ensure correct usage of the product. For
suitability and proper use follow local regulations and refer to
all information supplied.
^ Particular attention should be given to warning
statements where indicated.
^ Only use with original 3M spare parts and accessories
listed in the reference leaflet and within the usage conditions
given in the Technical Specifications.
^ The use of decals, paint or other modifications not
specified in these user instructions may invalidate claims
under the warranty or cause the product to be noncompliant
with approvals.
^ Possibly hazardous optical radiation emitted from this
product. Do not stare at the operating lamp. May be harmful
to the eye.
^ When removing/uninstalling the task light assembly, there
is a potential for light leakage through the installation holes. A
new lamp or a new solid neck protection needs to be fitted.

The product is CE marked and in conformity with the
European directives as listed in fig 8. The Declaration of
Conformity is available at www.3m.com/Welding/certs.

PREPARATION FOR USE
Carefully check that the product is complete (see fig 1),
undamaged and correctly assembled, any damaged or
defective parts must be replaced before each use.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
• ON/OFF: press the power button shortly, fig 6. When
activated, the lamp will have the same light intensity as it had
when the lamp was last used.
• Light intensity: Max, High, Medium, Low.
• Change of light intensity: hold the power button down in
order to rotate between the four light intensity levels, fig 6.
• Power saving: The light intensity is automatically reduced as
the battery charge decreases. When the battery charge is low
the lamp will switch to low light intensity and flash twice in
order to alert the user.
• It is not possible to change light intensity when the battery
charge is low, this will be indicated by the light flashing twice.
• The lamp cannot be switched on if the battery charge is
empty.
• When the battery is empty the lamp automatically turns off.
• Thermal protection: If the lamp gets too hot and to protect
the LEDs from overheating, the light intensity automatically
decreases. When the temperature recovers it will
automatically increase the light intensity.
• If the lamp is overheated it will flash four times and
automatically turn off.
• Always turn off the lamp after use.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Clean the task light and protection plate with a lint-free tissue
or cloth.
To avoid damage to the product do not immerse in water or
spray directly with liquids.
MAINTENANCE
• Replacement of outer protection plate, fig. 7A-7B
