8-7.Resistance Measurements
WARNING: Never test resistance on a live circuit.
1. Set the rotary function switch to the
position.
2. Press the MODE button until the "Ω" symbol appears on the LCD display.
3. Touch the test lead probes to the component under test. If the component is installed
in a circuit, it is best to disconnect one side before testing to eliminate interference with
other devices.
4. Read the resistance on the LCD display.
8-8.Diode Test
WARNING: Never test diodes in a live circuit.
1. Set the rotary function switch to the
position.
2. Press the MODE button until the "
" symbol appears on the LCD display.
3. Touch the test lead probes to the diode under test.
4. Forward voltage will indicate 0.4 to 0.7 on the LCD display. Reverse voltage will
indicate "OL". Shorted devices will indicate near 0 and an open device will indicate "OL"
in both polarities.

8-9.Continuity Test
WARNING: Never test continuity on a live circuit.
1-Set the rotary function switch to the
position.
2-Press the MODE button until the "
" symbol appears on the LCD display.
3-Touch the test lead probes to the device or wire under test.
4-A beeper will sound if the resistance is approx.100 ohms or less and the resistance
reading will be shown on the LCD display.
8-10.Capacitance Measurements
WARNING: Never test capacitors in a live circuit. Safely discharge capacitors before
taking a capacitance measurements.
1. Set the rotary function switch to the
position.
2. Press the MODE button until " nF "appears on the display.

3. Touch the test lead probes to the capacitor under test.
4. Read the capacitance on the LCD display. It may take up to a minute to get a stable
reading on a large capacit.or
8-11.Non-contact AC Voltage Detection: 100V to 1000V
WARNING: Risk of Electrocution. Before use, always test the Voltage Detector on a
known live circuit to verify proper operation.
1. The non-contact voltage detector operates when the meter is set to any measuring
function. The detector does not operate when Auto Power Off turns the meter off or
when the rotary function switch is set to the off position.
2. Hold the detector close to the AC voltage being tested.
3. If AC voltage within the specified range is present, the indicator light will illuminate.
NOTE: Insulation type and thickness, and distance from the voltage source and other
factors may effect operation. Use other methods to verify live voltage if there is any
uncertainty.
NOTE: The detector is designed with high sensitivity. Static electricity or other sources
of energy may randomly trip the sensor. This is normal operation.
NOTE: The detector only activates the indicator light when AC voltage is present. It does
not indicate the voltage level on the LCD display.
8-12.REPLACING THE BATTERY
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, disconnect the test leads from any source of voltage
before removing battery cover.
1-Loosen the two Phillips screws on the battery cover.
2-Remove the battery cover.
3-Replace old batteries with two"AAA"1.5V batteries.
4-Observe correct polarity as shown inside battery compartment.
5-Attach the battery cover and secure the screws.
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, do not operate the meter until the battery cover is in
place and securely fastened.
