Important safety instructions:
Caution: To protect against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed including
the following:
1.
Read and follow all safety advice.
2.
Warning: Since equipment for ponds and aquariums comes into contact with water,
particular care is needed to avoid electric shock. Should one of the following situations
arise, do not repair the appliance yourself. The appliance must be repaired by an au-
thorised specialist or sent to JBL GmbH & Co. KG for inspection:
If the appliance has fallen into the water, do not try to grab it! Disconnect the ap-
a)
pliance from the power supply first and then retrieve it. If live parts of the appliance
become wet, disconnect the appliance from the power supply immediately!
b) Check the appliance carefully after installation: There should be no water on parts
which are not intended for contact with water.
c)
Do not use the appliance if the cable, power plug or integrated electronic ballast
is damaged. Likewise, the appliance should not be used if it is damaged, has been
dropped or is not functioning properly.
d) The appliance should be positioned next to a wall socket in a spot where no water
can splash onto the socket, plug or electric unit. The power cable of the device
should hang like a "drip loop" to prevent water running along the cable from getting
into the socket. Never touch the socket, plug or electric unit if they are wet! First,
turn off the electric circuit that the device is connected to by using the fuse switch.
Afterwards, pull the plug. Check all parts for water.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with limited physi-
cal, sensory or mental abilities or a lack of experience and/or knowledge unless they are
supervised by a person responsible for their safety or are instructed by that person on
how to use the appliance.
Children are unable to properly assess the hazards associated with electric appliances.
Do not permit children to use electric appliances without supervision.
4.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
The appliance may not be used by children and adolescents under the age of 16 years.
5.
Avoid injury by not touching any hot parts.
6.
Always disconnect the appliance from the power supply when not in use, before install-
ing or removing parts or before cleaning. The plug should never be pulled out of the
socket by the cable. Always hold the plug when disconnecting.
7.
The appliance should not be used for any purpose other than its intended purpose. The
use of accessories or parts not recommended by the manufacturer can lead to hazard-
ous situations and a loss of warranty.
8.
Do not operate the appliance in frost or store it in a place with a risk of frost.
9.
The cable between the power supply unit and the UV-C unit cannot be replaced. In the
event of damage to the cable, the cable together with the casing lid and power supply
unit must be replaced. The cable should never be cut off!
10. Prior to first-time operation, make sure the appliance has been installed safely.
11. If an extension cable is used, make sure that the cable diameter is correct. The cable
may overheat if the diameter is too small. The cable should be laid such that no one can
