Headway Monitoring and Warning (HMW)
HOW DOES THE HMW WORK?
The HMW displays the time, in seconds, to the vehicle in front. The system provides an alert if the time becomes
dangerously short.
HOW DOES THE HMW AUDIO ALERT SOUND?
It is a single chime when the headway is equal to or less than the time reflected on the headway setting.
WHICH ICON REPRESENTS THE HMW VISUAL ALERT?
NOTICE:
The green car icon is displayed from the moment a vehicle is detected, and remains green as long as
the headway is greater than the predefined headway time threshold.
WARNING!
The car icon changes to red when the headway is equal to or lower than the predefined
headway time threshold, or below 0.6 seconds.
THE HMW HAPTIC ALERT (OPTIONAL)
The haptic alert will be connected to the steering wheel or to the driver' s seat, depending on installation.
WHEN IS THE HMW OPERATIONAL?
A car icon is shown whenever a vehicle is detected traveling in front of the vehicle. The numerical headway display
and the audio alert are operational only at speeds greater than 30 km/h (19 mph).
THE DISTANCE METER
The numerical display reflects the distance, in seconds, to the vehicle in front, in seconds.
