5 Putting into operation
5.5.1 Compressed air as plasma and cooling gas
5.5.2 Filtered compressed air free of oil and water
5.6 Plasma cutting torch with a central connector
EN - 14
NOTICE
• Precisely setting the compressed air pressure and flow/volume is
important for the pilot arc ignition, cut quality and service life of the torch
and wear parts.
• An inlet pressure (p) smaller than specified results in thermal overload.
The correct torch pressure must be ensured by properly setting the
pressure monitor on the power source.

NOTICE
• Use only compressed air which is free of dirt, oil and water.
• We recommend:
• Initial filter with a 5 µm pore size
• Sub-micro filter with a 0.01 µm pore size
• 99.99% oil separation rate
• Air throughput for PSB 31 at least 4.5 bar: > 160 l/min
Air throughput for PSB 60 at least 6.0 bar: > 180 l/min
Air throughput for PSB 121 at least 6.0 bar: > 180 l/min

NOTICE
• The plasma cutting torches with a central connector must only be
connected to power sources with central sockets which comply with the
safety requirements according to EN 60974-1 and EN 60974-7.
• The assignment of the cutting torch and cutting power source is clearly
defined by the codes on the plug and the socket and must be observed
under all circumstances.
