VI. RECOMMENDED ALIGNMENTS
Preparation :
Trace the build line and the knee joint center line (with patient standing, knee in complete extension).
Sliding position :
Sagittal plane : Assemble the socket in a flexed
position, so that the load line goes through the
hip joint center, at about 3 cm (according to the
activity) behind the front-upper axis of the knee
and at the level of the joint between the metatar-
sus and the foot phalanges. The heel can get off
the ground.
Frontal plane : Assemble the knee in line with
the socket. Assemble the leg segment with a
adduction angle of about 10° from the knee
(according to the activity). The load line goes
through the joint center of the socket and the
medial side of the foot (according to the activity).
Biking position :
Sagittal plane : Assemble the knee so that it has
the same axis as the socket. The build line
should go through the hip joint center, the socket
center and behind the rotation axis of the knee.
It goes approximately through the third of the
foot (for further information refer to the foot ali-
gnement recommendations).
Frontal plane : Assemble the knee so that it has
the same axis as the socket. The build line goes
through the knee center and the foot center.
A medial rotation of the leg segment may be
necessary.
Nota :
These recommendations are based on laboratory tests and trials. When the patient gets into the real situation of its sport activities,
these theoretical alignments can be modified provided that the safety rules and the rules of good use for the assembly of this type of material
be respected. The patient's safety and comfort depend on them.
