Remote operation
About remote operation
The instrument can be operated remotely with the RS485 Modbus connection. Instruments that are
installed in hazardous locations can be operated from a safe area through an RS485 interface. Only
configuration and maintenance items found in the instrument setup menu are available for remote
operation.
Modbus commands are sent from the ballast water control system by the RS485 connection. With
remote operation the user can:
• Monitor instrument operation
• Configure the instrument
• Put the instrument in run or standby
• Restart the instrument
• Put the instrument in standby mode to clean the colorimeter or change reagents
For more information, refer to the ballast water control system documentation for the vessel.
