Wireless interface connections

3.2.1

Bluetooth

The Bluetooth connection is used to set up the Wi-Fi AP
(access point) when starting up the charge station. Note
that you cannot control the charging charge station
through Bluetooth.
3.2.2

Wi-Fi

You can use Wi-Fi communication to connect the charge
station to the charging backend. This enables you to con-
figure the charger remotely through the FordPass™ app.

Product location considerations

When choosing the installation location for the Ford Con-
nected Charge Station, make sure that the location allows
the charging cable to reach the vehicle charge port without
straining the cable.

You must also make sure that:
l If you are installing more than one Ford Connected
Charge Station, then you must minimally leave 200 mm
(7.9 inches) in between.
l The Ford Connected Charge Station is installed at least
900 mm (35.5 inches) above floor level.

l The mounting surface is solid and strong.
l The mounting surface is completely flat.
l The mounting surface does not have any flammable
substances.
l The pavements and escape routes are not obstructed.
l You have fault-free Wi-Fi reception if you want to re-
mote control the charger through the Ford backend.
l The Ford Connected Charge Station is outdoor-rated;
however, for locations in intense climates, you may
want to shield the unit from intense direct sunlight and
spray to extend its useful life and fault-free operation.

Operation

5.1

Start charging

To start a typical charging session:
1.
Unlock the charge station If the charge station is
locked (
) (see „chapter 5.4 Status in-
dicator").
2.
Open vehicle charge port cover.
3.
Remove the coupler from the remote dock.
4.
Plug the coupler into the vehicle charge port until it
clicks. The charge station should indicate that the ve-
hicle is connecting to the charge station

).

As soon as the vehicle and charge station are con-
nected, the charge station indicator exhibits one of
the following states:

The charge station will be in standby (
if the vehicle is fully charged or scheduled to charge
later.

The charge station will begin charging

5.2

Stop charging

You will generally end a charging session when charging is
complete (indicated by the charge station status indicator
being in standby state (
), but you can also in-
terrupt and end an incomplete charging session.
