How to operate the unit
2. In order to be able to wrap the cuff around the arm, push or roll
your sleeve up to expose the bare skin. Make sure your sleeve
is not too tight.
Hold your arm with the palm of your hand facing upwards and
attache the cuff to the upper arm over the main artery.
The air tube must be on the inner side of the arm in line with the
little finger. On the cuff there is also a printed label that you can use for guidance.
Note: You can find the main artery by pressing two fingers approximately 2 centimetres above the
bend of the elbow on the inner side of the arm. The point where the pulse can be strongly felt is the
location of the main artery.
3. The cuff should be fitted nugly and comfortably but should not constrict the arm. It should be pos-
sible to insert a finger between the cuff and the arm.

Posture during measurement

1. Sit comfortably and lay your arm with the cuff on a flat surface.
Lay your elbow on the table so that the cuff is level with your
heart. The palm of your hand should face upwards. Sit upright
and take 5 or 6 deep breaths.
1. Measure and record blood pressure at the same time every
day to establish your blood pressure pattern.
Helpful tips for patients, particularly patients with hypertension:
• Rest for five minutes before measuring.
• Wait at least three minutes between measurements. This will enable your circulation to recover.
• Take the measurement in a quiet room.
• Try to relax during measurement; do not move or speak.
• Attach the cuff at a position level with your heart.
• Sit comfortably. Do not cross your legs but place your feet flat on the floor, and lean against the
back of the chair.
• In order to ensure comparability of measurements, try to measure under similar conditions each
time. For example, measure at the same time each day, using the same arm, or following the
instructions of your doctor.
