1.3 Target group

These installation and operating instructions are intended for
authorised and trained operating and service experts.
1.3.1 Qualification and training
The persons responsible for the installation, startup, operation and
maintenance must be appropriately qualified for these tasks. Areas
of responsibility, levels of authority and the supervision of the
persons must be precisely defined by the operating company. If
necessary, the persons must be trained appropriately.
1.3.2 Obligations of the operating company
Observe the local safety regulations.
Instruct the operating persons.
Provide the stipulated safety equipment and personal protective
equipment.
Arrange regular maintenance.
1.3.3 Obligations of the user
Read this manual thoroughly before operating the product.
Observe the recognised health and safety regulations as well as
the accident prevention regulations.
Wear appropriate protective equipment in accordance with
national health and safety regulations when working at the
system and handling chemicals.

1.4 Safety of the system in the event of product failure

If the product fails, the safety of the overall system must be
ensured. Use appropriate monitoring and control functions.

Make sure that leak monitoring solutions and drip trays
are installed.

1.5 Working with chemicals

Wear personal protective equipment when handling

Observe the chemical manufacturer's safety data
sheets (SDS) and safety instructions of the used
chemicals.
Observe the local regulations.
Make sure that parts in contact with the chemicals are
resistant to the chemicals under the specific operating
conditions.

2. Product introduction

The 186 vacuum change-over device consists of a 3-way ball valve,
a mounting flange, a servomotor and a control cabinet.
At the inlet side it is connected to two vacuum regulators. At the
outlet side it is connected to a dosing unit.
Two contact manometers are mounted either directly on the
vacuum regulators, or at the end of the header line before the
vacuum regulators.

2.1 Intended use

The 186 vacuum change-over device is used for changing over the
chlorine gas supply between two container batteries. It is used in
Grundfos chlorine gas dosing systems for water treatment, strictly
complying with the instructions in this manual.
The 186 vacuum change-over device is intended for use with
chlorine gas. The allowed medium is specified on the nameplate.

Observe the freezing and boiling point of the used
medium at operating pressure.

pressurised chlorine gas.
The operational safety of the product is only guaranteed, if it is used
in accordance with section Intended use.
The product must not be used for media that are not specified
on the nameplate.
The product must not be used in potentially explosive areas.
The product must not be used if it is damaged.
The product must not be used after improper repair.
The product must not be used after unauthorised modification.
The product must not be used without a separately fused power
supply.
