Operation
Simeon 500IR Portable Speaker/Receiver
Flick the master switch on the back of the receiver to the 'ON' position [7].
A steady red light indicates that the receiver is on and ready to use. A flashing
red light means that the receiver is low on batteries, and should be recharged.
On the front of the unit, there are two independent volume controls [2], one for
each channel. By default, the channels on the receiver are set to match the co-
lours of the transmitter capsules: Channel A with black, and Channel B with grey.
Each of these channels has its own indicator LED on the receiver, right beside its
volume dial. They will light green if there is an established connection to their
respective transmitter. Otherwise, they will remain red. Rotate the volume dials
clockwise out of the 'OFF' position to begin receiving signal from the transmit-
ters, and adjust the dial to the desired volume. The suggested volume setting for
a medium sized classroom is 4. An amber "AF" indicator will light when you are
speaking. To turn off the receiver, simply flip the master switch on the back of
the unit to 'OFF' [7].
Simeon 501TI Transmitter/Microphones
To turn the transmitter on, hold the power button on the front of the trans-
mitter for two (2) seconds [18], until a green indicator lights. This indicator will
turn red when the transmitter is low on batteries. The capsule of the 501TI is
highly directional [23] – point the microphone directly towards the mouth for
best performance. The 'Mute' switch on the back of the transmitter [22] allows
for easy interruption of the audio signal. To turn the unit off, simply hold the
power button [18] for three (3) seconds, until the indicator turns off.
Note: do not put the transmitter in your pocket.
emitting infrared diodes just below the capsule, and another five at its base [17].
In order for the transmitter to work properly, these cannot be covered.
The transmitter may be worn in conjunction with the Simeon 623 boom
(headset) microphone or alternatives by either being hung around the neck us-
ing the included lanyard or at the waist using the included belt clip.
