Reflective Trim - Replace if any of
these conditions exist:
• Charred, partially detached, nonre-
flective, and/or missing
Faceshield and Hardware – Replace
if any of these conditions exist:
• Blistered, bubbled, cracked, or
charred faceshield
• Missing E-ring
• Shaft not intact
Goggle - Inspect the following and
replace if damage exists:
• Ventilation and filtration
• Lens, frame, straps, adjustment
assembly, and mounting hardware
Breakaway Tabs - Replace if any of
these conditions exist:
• Missing, bent, or damaged tabs.
Chinstrap - Replace if any of these
conditions exist:
• Frayed, missing, or broken parts
• Missing, cut, frayed, or broken
stitching
• Clogged or worn-out velcro
• Brittle, broken, or missing quick
release button
• Loose postmans slide
Suspension Straps - Ensure straps
lie flat and pass between alignment
guides. Replace if any of these con-
ditions exist:
• Missing, cut, or broken stitching
• Tears or abrasions on straps
• Brittleness
• Discoloration
Earlap - Replace if any of these
conditions exist:
• Missing, cut, or broken stitching

• Nomex layer discolored, charred,
or perforated
• Flannel liner torn or seared
Headband - Replace if any of these
conditions exist:
• Brittle, torn, cracked, or broken
• Holes
• Able to open ratchet by tugging on
legs
IMPACT CAP REMOVAL FOR
INSPECTION
The full Impact Cap is made of a ure-
thane foam that offers both thermal
and impact protection. It is held in the
shell and locked in place. Follow pro-
cedures for each Impact Cap.
Model 360S
Remove the four retention clips which
also hold the overhead straps and the
ratchet headband.
Model 880
Remove the four retention lugs, and
the two breakaway tabs and pull the
Impact Cap out.
Models 660, 660C, 660CE, 664, 990,
990E, HP3, 515, 515E, 1000, 1010,
1044
Remove the two breakaway tabs and
pull the Impact Cap out.
Impact Cap Inspection - Replace if
any of these conditions exist:
• Halo effect (ring of discolored
foam)
• Cracking, brittleness
• Evidence of impact
• Cracks in plastic tube
