Information for users former Article 26 of legislative decree 49/2014.
The symbol which is included on the appliance (Annex IX of Legislative Decree
49/2014) specifies that the waste must be subject to "separate collection" and has
been marketed in the market, in Italy, as from 31/12/2010.
Therefore, the user must deposit (or ensure that the deposit is undertaken) the waste in
the separate waste collection points made available by local administrations, or deliver
same to the seller when making the purchase of a new appliance of an equivalent type.
The user therefore plays an active role: the selective collection of waste and subse-
quent treatment, recycling and disposal activities facilitates the production of applian-
ces with recycled materials and limits the negative effects on the environment and on
health which may arise from an improper waste management.
For very small (<25cm) WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) , the user is
entitled to free delivery, without any obligation to make a simultaneous purchase, to
retail chains whose specialised sales area exceeds 400 m2.
