The Sun Beam Polymerisation Lamp (R-080550) polymerises photopolymerisable materials
swiftly and efficiently. It has a frequency range of 280 - 550 nanometers, and this allows it to
polymerise the vast majority of materials used in the Dental Sector. We recommend you read
the following Instructions for Use carefully for proper usage of the unit and best lamp
performance:
INSTALLING THE LAMP
• Carefully unpack your Sun Beam Polymerisation Lamp. Check that no damage has been
sustained in transit, and read this "User's Manual" in full.
• Choose a flat rigid surface for the facility, protected against sources of heat or vibrations.
The unit should also be protected from direct sunlight.
• The lamps (6 x 9 W.) have been disassembled to prevent breakage during transit. Proceed
with reassembly by inserting each lamp into its holder. You will observe that three lamps
have been supplied with tone S/71, and a further three lamps with tone S/78. Each type of
lamp must be alternated during assembly in order to obtain uniform lighting for the
polymerisation chamber. Extreme care must be exercised during this operation to avoid any
breakages.
• Connect the appliance to 230 V, 50/60 Hz, with earthing.
• Activate the main switch on the left-hand side of the unit. You will observe that the display
shows the operating time set. The Sun Beam Lamp is now ready for use.
OPERATION
• Uncover the polymerisation chamber, and place the items you wish to polymerise on the
prosthesis plate. Up to 4 models may be polymerised, depending on the size of the items.
• Close the polymerisation chamber, and use the timer control to select the time required. The
electronic display will show the time set in minutes. The polymerisation time range is 3 - 20
minutes.
• When the time has been selected, press the timer control knob. The facility will start up, the
polymerisation chamber light comes on, and the prosthesis plate rotates.
• It is possible to cancel a polymerisation cycle during operation by pressing the timer control
again. The machine then stops, and the display shows the last time selected.
• If the polymerisation chamber door opens during operation, the machine's lights will go out
and the prosthesis plate will cease to rotate for as long as the door is open. The timing
function, however, continues to operate normally. This aspect is particularly useful when we
wish to add or remove parts during a cycle which has already commenced.
• When the time set has elapsed, the electronic control unit will emit a warning signal, and the
machine will stop. Remove the items from the polymerisation chamber.
CHANGING THE LAMPS
The polymerisation lamps' service life is limited. Optimum change is recommended every 500
hours, to a maximum of 1,000 hours of operation. The Sun Beam polymerisation lamp has an
automatic lamp-change warning system: after 500 hours of operation, when the machine is
hooked up to the mains CL (Change Lamps) will appear on the display. This will also appear as
a reminder to the user every time a cycle commences. When the lamps have been changed,
the hour meter must be reset. Proceed as follows:
• Disconnect the facility from the mains. Press the timer control knob and reconnect the facility
to the mains, keeping the knob depressed.
• It will be observed that the appliance emits a signal for a few seconds, and "00" then
appears on the display.
