► Release clutch lever for self-propulsion (1).
The drive is disengaged and the drive shaft does not
rotate.

10.1 Checking the Controls
Lock
► Stop the engine.
► Try to press the clutch lever for self-propulsion without
pressing the lock.
► If the clutch lever for self-propulsion can be pressed: do
not use the tiller and consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
The lock is defective.
► Press the lock and hold.
► Press the clutch lever for self-propulsion.
► Release the clutch lever for self-propulsion and lock.
► If the clutch lever for self-propulsion or lock is stiff or does
not spring back into the initial position: do not use the tiller
and consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
The clutch lever for self-propulsion or lock is defective.
Clutch lever for self-propulsion
► Start the engine.
► Set 1st, 2nd or reverse gear.
► Engage self-propulsion.
The drive is engaged and the drive shaft rotates.
► If self-propulsion does not engage:
► Do not use the tiller and consult a STIHL specialist
dealer.
The clutch lever for self-propulsion is defective.
Main switch
► Start the engine.
► Set the main switch to the 0 position.
The engine cuts out.
► If the engine does not cut out:

► Do not use the tiller and consult a STIHL specialist
dealer.
The main switch is defective.
Throttle lever
► Start the engine.
► Move the throttle lever.
The engine speed changes.
► If the engine speed does not change:
► Do not use the tiller and consult a STIHL specialist
dealer.
The throttle lever is defective.
Gear lever
► Engage 0, 1st, 2nd and reverse gear.
► If one of the gears cannot be engaged:
► Do not use the tiller and consult a STIHL specialist
dealer.
The gear lever is defective.
