Calibration of general high pressure switch or safety switch (SRMCR) (Fig. 7 Fig. 8)
The name "safety accessories" is given to the devices designed to protect systems under pressure from values
that exceed the safety limits of the system.
Directive 97/23/EC (PED = Pressure Equipment Directive) describes two safety devices:
-
devices for direct pressure limitation, such as safety valves, bursting disc safety devices, buckling rods,
controlled safety pressure relief systems (CSPRS) and
-
limiting devices, which either activate the means for correction or provide for shutdown or shutdown and
lockout, such as pressure switches or temperature switches or fluid level switches and "safety related
measurement control and regulation (SRMCR) devices.
The pressure switches used by Arneg S.p.A. (SRMRC) are classified in category IV of the PED.
The technical file indicates that the maximum allowable pressure (Ps) for the system is 28 bar.
From EN 378-2; Tab. 2, the calibration pressure of the safety pressure switch (without discharge device) should
be the same or lower than the maximum allowable pressure (Ps):
P
< 1,0 x Ps
set
P
< 0,9 x 28 = 26 bar
set
Therefore Pset = 26 bar is the calibration pressure for the safety pressure switches on the high pressure side of
the system.
Calibration of these pressure switches (SRMRC) should be done by the manufacturer.
Two types of high-pressure pressure switches have been installed for these standard sets.
1: The PED requires a pressure switch with a capsule with manual reset, calibrated by the manufacturer.
2: This is a safety pressure switch which is regulated by the installer.
Note: All these operations should be carried out by specialized technical personnel only.

14. Periodical inspections

Check once a month that the unit is functioning properly as follows:
-
First make sure all the controls on the control panel function normally and no indicator lights are lit;
-
Open the door from a safe position (behind and to one side of the door) so as not to be struck by any outflow
of hot or cold air or gas;
-
Wait a few minutes before looking into the engine room, to allow ventilation through the open door;
-
Check for any unusual noise while standing on the threshold;
-
Put on the earcaps and enter with caution;
-
If you see any stains, leakage of liquids or other signs of malfunction SUSPEND THE INSPECTION AT ONCE
AND LEAVE THE ROOM;
-
If there are no malfunctions, continue the inspection and when finished leave the room clean and tidy.
