Power supply/battery management
Xl XXI
Invia Liberty is operable while connected to the electrical power supply or by the internal re-
chargeable lithium-ion battery. While in use and connected to the electrical power supply, the
battery is re-charged.
The charge on the battery is dependent upon the run-time of the pump. This is influenced by
the size of the wound, the leakage and the set pressure. It only runs when there is a difference
between the set and current pressure.
If Invia Liberty is running continuously, Medela guarantees a maximum of 4 hours of battery
before it is necessary to re-charge. This case will not be encountered in practice; the real
expectant charge of the battery exceeds 10 hours.
If Invia Liberty has not been in use, the battery must be charged approximately once every
6 months to ensure optimum functioning.
Backup battery
If a defect occurs (broken cable, battery defective), an acoustic warning is sounded for at least
3 min. The backup battery saves the internal default settings. Replace Invia Liberty immedia-
tely.
Effective run-time
XXII
The run-time refers to the effective operation of the motor, not to the operating time.
The run-time does not correspond to the duration of treatment.
Invia Liberty builds up the set pressure and keeps it constant. This means that Invia Liberty is
not running constantly, but only turns on when the measured pressure is lower than the set
pressure.
