When installing a string head for 121/129
17
the disc (5), nut protector (6), washer (7) and
lock nut (8) are not required (Ill. 16).
The complete string head is screwed on the
arbor shaft (1) with grassprotector flange
(A)against the pressure plate (2) (left hand
thread) (counter-clockwise). With the holding
pin (3), the gear shaft (1) is blocked by way of
the pressure plate (2).
Caution! Insert connecting piece
(5) on the shield prior to installing
string head.
• Use only cutting attachments which have
been authorized.
• Use correct cutting techniques.
• Turn off the engine and remove spark
plug cap when changing the cutting
attachments.
• While in operation, the brushcutter
should be checked on a regular basis.
The cutter's condition should be
examined if there is any noticeable
difficulty.
• Replace damaged or dull parts at once.
• Re-sharpen dull cutters - kick-back
danger is increased with dull cutters!
• Only approved cutting attachments, string
heads, accessories or spare parts are to be used.
• We cannot be held liable for accidents
or damages for replacement parts which were
not approved.
Increased kick-back danger occurs when using
- dull cutting parts
- when making contact with a
foreign object while cutter is
rotating.
Kick-back can cause the brushcutter to be
thrown violently to the right, twisting of the
operator and possible injury.

semi-automatic
When the trimmer is not under load, tap the
trimmer head several times on a grassed
surface. Each adjustment move of the head
extends the cord by approx. 30 mm. Excess
cord will be automatically cut by the cord
limiter on the debris shield.
Carrying Strap Adjustment
19
The carrying strap supplied with the brushcutter
or bought as an accessory has to be properly
adjusted.
Place the singular shoulder strap over the left
shoulder, so that the strap hook (1) lays on the
right side of the hip after the strap length is
properly adjusted.
Separate instructions are included for using the
dual carrying shoulder strap.
The brushcutter has to be balanced after the
hook (1) is placed in the strap hanger. To balance
the brushcutter, you either slide the clamp hol-
der (2) after loosening the screws, or the hook
is hung in one of the various fastening holes.
When releasing the single shoulder strap, the
quick release is opened by pushing the notches
together. The hook with the strap's lower part
may remain on the brushcutter. Release the strap
on the respective hook when other lock types
are used.
Set the strap hanger in such a way that cutting
attachments rest lightly on the ground. This
should afford maximum operational control.
Adjust carrying strap and handlebar according
to body height prior to use.
Set cutting attachment as described in section
„carrying strap adjustment" (illustrations 19 and
11).
