The housing of the L.U.C.A.S
1000 subwoofer is
divided into two separate chambers. The front
chamber serves as the speaker cabinet for the 15"
direct-loaded loudspeaker, which has a power-
handling capacity of 600 watts RMS and a nominal
impedance of 8 ohms. The rear chamber houses the
system's active electronic circuitry, which consists
of the power supply, preamps and power amps.
Satellites
The satellites are bass reflex cabinets loaded with an
8" HK Audio Custom speaker and a 3/4" driver with
a 100° x 50° CD horn. Together they are rated at a
200-watt RMS power handling capacity and a nominal
impedance of 4 ohms. Though not visible from the
outside, the baffle board is sloped at an angle of 3°.
The reason for this is to orient the speakers better
towards the audience and prevent undesirable
reflections from bouncing around the venue.
The front panel of the satellites is concave and fits
perfectly into the subwoofer's convex speaker grille
for easy transport.
Note: The system's components are matched for
the best possible audio performance and may only
be operated in the specified configuration. Use of
other satellites may degrade the sound and possibly
damage the power amp.

2 Transporting the System

To transport the system, simply set the subwoofer on
its casters and place the satellites onto the subwoofer
with the acoustic foam grille facing down. Secure the
satellites with the included locking strap.

3 Operating the System

1 Limiter LEDs
Indicates the operating status of the limiter.
Green = signal, yellow = soft limit, red = full limit
Caution! This is not a clip LED. It's okay if, every now
and then, it lights up red briefly. This tells you that
the limiter is operating at full capacity. The limiter
status of the left and right signals and the subwoofer
is in each case indicated by a dedicated LED.
2 Power On LED
This LED lights up when the power switch (see rear
panel) is set to On and the system is connected to a
mains power supply.
3 Gain Left, Gain Right
These knobs let you adjust the power amp to match
the input signal level; use them to prevent distortion
when you're patching in high-level signals.
4 Subwoofer Level
This knob determines the subwoofer's audio volume.
5 Ground
Ground lift switch for separating the signal ground
from the chassis ground when you encounter
problems with hum. The ground is lifted when
the button is pressed in.
6 Input (combination jack) Left, Right
With a balanced signal source, the input of the
L.U.C.A.S 1000 will also accept a 1/4" Tip-Ring-Sleeve
plug wired as follows:
Tip = +, Ring = -, Sleeve = ground.
If the output of your mixer is unbalanced, you may
use a 1/4" Tip-Sleeve plug wired as follows:
Tip = +, Sleeve = -.
7 Through Left, Right
Parallel output for routing the Line-level signal (left
or right) to additional systems, outboard components,
monitor power amps, etc.
8 Ventilation Fans
These fans keep the power amp modules running
