• Secure the release screws (24) again with Loctite and check that the release lever is freely movable (27).
Attention: After every conversion, carry out a functional check before the dynamic fitting.
Important additional information:
Play may be found when using the optional lock on the Balance Knee OFM1/KFM1. This play can be eliminated
with the help of the screw (15) which is turned right ▸ ▸ ▸ with a 2.5 mm Allen key. This moves the extension stop
(20), which compensates for the play. If the release lever (27) does not click into place easily, correct the position of
the extension stop with the help of the screw (15), which you turn to the left ◂ ◂ ◂.
MOUNTING THE DUAL FUNCTION LEVER
For laminated sockets
• Laminate the threaded couple in the desired position.
• Fix the lamination tube in the laminate.
• Mount the dual function lever on the threaded couple. Secure the screw with Loctite.
• Guide the nylon lanyard through the lamination channel.
• Set the dual function lever in the lower position.
• Snap the release lever (27) into the knee joint.
• Fix the nylon lanyard to the release lever (27) on the joint.
• Secure the retaining screw (28) with Loctite and tighten by hand. Use a 2 mm Allen key.
For plastic sockets
• Drill a hole in the socket in the desired position and fix the threaded couple from the inside of the socket.
• Mount the dual function lever. Secure the screw with Loctite.
• Use the guide clips to determine where the protective duct will run.
• Fix the protective duct in the guide clips.
• Pass the nylon lanyard through the protective duct.
• Set the dual function lever in the lower position.
• Snap the release lever (27) into the knee joint.
• Fix the nylon lanyard to the release lever (27) on the joint.
• Secure the retaining screw (28) with Loctite and tighten by hand. Use a
2 mm Allen key.
Note: If the user only wants to use the dual function lever for releasing the knee joint in certain situations (e.g.
sitting down), the enclosed M4 Allen screws can be screwed into the slots in the dual function lever. This stops the
lever from slipping up beyond the taper and thus permanently inactivating the release lever (Fig. 3).

SAFETY WARNINGS

• Adapters used at the upper connection must always be tightened to the prescribed torque for the respective
modular component. Use a torque wrench.
• The adapters used for the lower connection (e.g. tube adapter) must be inserted down to the end stop in the
tube receiver of the knee joint.
• The screw (6) on the tube receiver must be tightened to 16 Nm and secured with Loctite. Use a torque wrench
(5 mm Allen key).
• The central screws (31, 32, 33) must be secured with Loctite and tightened to a torque of 35 Nm. Use a torque
wrench (8 mm Allen key).
• If the joint is being used with the locking function, the release screws (24) must not impede the function of the
release lever (27) and must be secured with Loctite to rule out any inadvertent loosening and incorrect function.
• If the joint is being used with the freely moving function, the release screws (24) must be tightened to 5 Nm
and secured with Loctite. Use a torque wrench (2,5 mm Allen key).
• If the joint is being used with the locking function, neither the release lever (27) nor the nylon cord of the dual
function lever (41) may be impeded by the cosmesis and they must be able to move freely.
• If readjustment work is required, secure the release lanyard of the dual function lever (41) so that it cannot
catch in grinding tools. High potential hazard!
• When readjusting the extension stop (20) with the adjusting screw (15) on the back stub axle, make sure that it
functions or locks properly and carry out a functional check before the dynamic fitting.
