4.4 General information before programing
The SFE EV controller allows to manage your intallation by a time clock control or by a volumetric control. The
controller will automatically intiate regenerations cycles based upon the programmed regeneration mode and
the prommamed parameters.
The SFE EV controller offers the possibility to manually start regeneration simply by pressing the regeneration
button, as well as initiate a regeneration from an external signal.
The controller is able to receive an external signal for regeneration inhibition, that will block any regenetation
start as long as the inhibit signal is received by the controller. See section 4.4.9 for more information.
The SFE EV controller can manage a chlorine production cell that will be activated during the brine draw cycle
of the regeneration.
Whenever a regeneration has started, the regeneration can be cancelled by pressing the
seconds. The controller will then place the valve back to service position.
4.4.1
Integrated brine valve feature
SFE EV controller features a brine valve that is directly installed at the back of the controller. This brine valve
will be automatically opened and closed by the controller whenever it is required depending on the regeneration
type programmed and on the programmed regeneration option (variable brining etc).
The brine valve can also be manually opened and closed if required. See section 5.3 for more information.
WARNING. When this command is operated, the brine valve is under full control of the
user/installer.
PENTAIR WATER is not responsible for any damage caused by the incorrect use of this
command by the user/installer.
4.4.2
Calculation of treatable water volume
When the SFE EV controller is programmed for a volumetric control mode, the controller automatically
calculates the treatable volume of water based upon the programmed inlet hardness, outlet hardness and resin
exchange capacity.
If it is set for immediate volumetric regeneration control mode, it permanently updates the remaining treatable
volume and starts the regeneration when the total volume capacity is exausted.
If the controller is programmed for volumetric delayed control mode, during the service cycle it permanently
updates the remaning treatable volume, and the average treated water flow rate. Then, every day at the
programmed regeneration time, it uses the average treated flow rate to make a forecast for the next 24 hours.
If by this forecast comes out that the volume consumption during the next 24 hours will exaust the remaning
volume capacity, the controller will start a regeneration at the current day, otherwise it stays in service for
another day.
When using a mixing device, make sure that the outlet hardness matches with the programmed outlet
hardness.
