Initial Start-up (No Load)

Before operating the generator or placing it into service,
inspect the entire installation carefully. Familiarize yourself
with the location of internal standby components and the
location and function of the system control panel buttons
(see next pages). Begin testing the system without any
electrical loads connected, as follows:
1. Connect an accurate AC voltmeter/frequency meter to
the load side of the generator main circuit breaker.
2. Set the generator main circuit breaker to ON
(closed) position.
3. Install 15 Amp fuse in control panel.
4. Press and hold the MANUAL button on the control
panel for 3 seconds. Engine will start.
When the generator is started for the first time, air in the
gaseous fuel lines will be purged. This may cause the engine
to run rough for a few minutes.
5. Listen for unusual noises, vibration, or other
indications of abnormal operation. Check for oil or
coolant leaks while engine runs.
6. Let engine warm up for about 5 minutes to allow
internal temperatures to stabilize.
7. Check generator output at load side of circuit breaker.
No-load voltage should be 238 - 242 Volts, frequency
should be 59.8 - 60.2 Hz.
NOTE
If the no-load voltage in Step 7 is outside the
specified range, perform the AVR adjustment in Step
9. Do not proceed until the AC voltage is correct and
within the specified range.
20
8. Check voltage output between one generator
connection lug and the neutral lug, then between the
other generator connection lug and the neutral lug. In
both cases, the voltage reading should be between
119-121 Volts.
9. If necessary, adjust the AVR as follows:
A. Connect voltmeter as described in step 1.
B. Remove 4 screws securing the control panel and
carefully lift the panel to expose the AVR.
C. While observing the voltmeter, adjust the alternator
voltage control (B) to obtain the range specified. DO
NOT adjust either of the other alternator controls.
B
10. Reinstall control panel with 4 screws.
11. Press and hold the OFF button on the control panel
until engine stops.
