Hollow-shaft incremental encoders are
measuring instruments produced in accor-
dance with recognized industrial regulations.
• The installation of the encoder is
to be carried out by trained
personnel with knowledge of
electrical engineering and
instrumentation.
• An incremental encoder must be
used only for the purpose
appropriate to its design.
Tool required for the fixing to the shaft
- hexagon socket key 2.5 mm A/F
The following must be observed
• These installation instructions are
a supplement to the data sheet
• The customer's shaft length must
lie within the tolerance: see (11)
• Diameter tolerance of the shaft: h
• Shaft must be chamfered and
grease-free

Mounting instructions
The following must be avoided
• Blows and shocks to the shaft (1)
• Stress on the torque support (9)
• Connecting or plugging in the
encoder with a voltage present
Preparing for installation
• Loosen screw (2) in clamping ring (5)
Installation
• Push the encoder onto the locked shaft
(11) until torque support (9) rests on the
motor bearing face (4)
• Hold encoder firmly and mark the 4 fixing
holes (7)
• Pull off encoder once more, drill the
marked holes and tap an M4 thread
• Push the encoder onto the shaft (11)
until torque support (9) rests on the
motor bearing face (4)
• Fix encoder with 4 M3 screws (8)
7
Do not stress torque support in
the process!
• Tighten clamping screw (2) using hexagon
socket key (2.5 mm A/F)
Recommended tightening torque
1.1 Nm
• As an alternative, the slots (10) may also
be used or fixing the encoder
• Make the electrical connection,
with the voltage switched off
