• Always wear safety goggles closed at the sides, acid-proof
safety gloves, and acid-proof clothing.
• Never use the battery charger with damaged cables or
whenever the charger has been subjected to impact or
damaged.
• Never dismantle the battery charger: take it to an authorized
service centre.
• Supply cable must be replaced by qualified people.
• Never position the battery charger on flammable surfaces.
• Never place the battery charger and its cables in the water
or on wet surfaces.
• Position the battery charger with adequate ventilation; never
cover it with other objects or close it inside containers or
closed shelves.
Battery charger connection
• Make sure that the plug is not plugged into the socket.
• Connect red charging clamp to positive (+) battery terminal
and black charging clamp (-) to negative battery terminal.
• If the battery is installed on a motor vehicle, first connect
the clamp to the battery terminal that is not connected to
the bodywork. Afterwards, connect the second clamp to the
bodywork at a point far from both the battery and the petrol
pipes.
• To stop charging the battery. In the following order, cut off the
power supply, remove the clamp from the bodywork or the
negative (-) terminal, and remove the clamp from the positive
(+) terminal.

Battery charger description

his automatic battery charger with inverter switching
technology is designed to charge different types of lead
battery.
L
Respect the instructions provided by the battery
Manufacturer for recharging.

Charging a battery

¾ Connect the red clamp (+) to the battery's positive pole
and the black clamp (-) to the battery's negative pole.
The battery charger sets in "Test" mode, ignore this step
and proceed as follows.
950975-00 04/05/18
¾ Plug the plug into the socket to begin charging.
L
The "C" LED (red) lights up whenever the clamps have
been connected to the battery with reverse polarity. Invert
the connection.
L
MOD.2
The battery charger has several selectable programs:
¾ Use the "Set" key to select the charging program desired
for the battery.
14.4 Volt charging
14.7 Volt charging*
14.4 Volt charging
14.7 Volt charging*
* 14.7 Volt charging
Option for AGM Power batteries that require a higher voltage.
Some battery manufacturer suggest using this program for
batteries that run at temperatures of less than 5°C.
Charging phase Fig.3
Phase 1
A pulsed charge is performed, this helps removing the
sulphated particles from the lead plates of the battery (led
"charge" permanently illuminated).
Phase 2
Constant voltage charge to bring the battery at its full capacity
(led "charge" permanently illuminated).
Phase 3
PULSED maintenance: the charger is continuously checking
the battery voltage and when necessary will deliver a pulse
of current to maintain the battery capacity at 95 - 100% (led
"OK" permanently illuminated).
L
If the "Charge" and "OK" LEDs flash rapidly for
prolonged time, this means that the battery is no longer
receiving the charge (i.e. sulphation has occurred in the
plates). If these LEDs light up in alternation every 10-20
seconds, it means that battery cannot hold the charge
(high self-discharge).

Charging Errors

Led "C" will indicate some possible malfunctioning of the
battery all along the charging cycle.
„ Led "C"+"charge" permanently illuminated = the capacity
of the battery is too large for the charger, or the battery has
a short-circuited cell.
L
If the power supply fails, the charging desired will
automatically resume when power returns.
L
The battery charger is equipped with thermal protection
that gradually reduces the output current whenever the
internal temperature becomes too high.
Never leave the battery unattended for long periods
of time.
