Application
The C-TOP+ is intended to detect the operating statuses and to control pneu-
matically operated process valves in process engineering systems – e.g. ball
valves, butterfly valves, poppet valves and double poppet valves.
®
Process valves from INOXPA
are suitable, because they have a pneumatic actua-
tor with a rod which is directed outwards. Cylinder diameter and actuator rod dia-
meter as well as the length of the outwards-directed actuator rod must be within
the following range:
Required dimensions:
– Cylinder diameter:
Ø D [mm]: 58 ... 219
– Distance of mounting holes:
A [mm]: 35
– Max. overall length incl. magnet:
Hmax [mm]: max. 130
– Actuator rod retracted:
Lmin [mm]: 45
– Actuator rod advanced:
Lmax. [mm]: 115
– Actuator rod diameter:
Ø B [mm]: 12 ... 22
The following actuators and process valves from INOXPA are suitable for combina-
tion with the enclosed adapter plate:
– Vertical actuator T1, T2 and T3
– Single poppet valve DN 25/100
– Double poppet valve DN 40/100
– INNOVA SSV DN 25/100
– INNOVA DSV DN 40/100
– VEEVALV 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, when equipped with a suitable adapter

Transport and storage
Ensure the following storage conditions:
– Short storage times in cool, dry, shaded and corrosion-resistant storage loca-
tions.

Requirements for product use
Installation and commissioning is to be carried out only by qualified personnel in
accordance with the operating instructions.
Note
Incorrect handling can cause malfunctions or damage to the product.
• Make sure that all the instructions in this chapter are observed. The product
will then function correctly and reliably.
• Compare the maximum values specified in these operating instructions with
those of your actual application (e.g. pressure, force, torque, masse, speed,
temperature). The product can only be used in accordance with the relevant
safety guidelines if the maximum load limits are observed.
• Observe the applicable national and international regulations.
• Take into consideration the regulations applicable at the place of destination:
– Regulations and standards,
– Rules of the testing organizations, associations and insurers,
– National regulations.
• The product is not a safety component and must only be used as designated.
• Take into consideration the ambient conditions at the location of use. Corrosive
environments reduce the service life of the product.
• Remove the packaging, except for the adhesive labels on the compressed air
supply ports (to prevent dirt).
• The packing is intended for recycling (except for: oiled paper = other waste).
• Use the product in its original condition without any unauthorised modifica-
tions.
• Protect the device from pressure fluctuations and excess operating tempera-
ture. Use pressure relief valves and pressure regulators.
• Take into consideration the documentation for the components you use in com-
bination with the C-TOP+ (e. g. actuator, process valve, etc.)
• Ensure that the compressed air is properly prepared (
section 13).
• Use only unlubricated compressed air under normal conditions.
The product has an initial lubrication which suffices for the complete service life.
Using lubricated compressed air flushes out the initial lubrication. The product
may then only be operated with lubricated compressed air.

Installation
Note
Ferrous materials (e.g. steel parts and sheets) in the immediate vicinity of prox-
imity switches (sensors) can result in unwanted switching signals.
• During assembly, maintain the required minimum distances from ferrous ma-
terials.
The cover must be removed during inspection and maintenance.
• Make sure there is a free space of at least 120 mm above the cover, so that it
can be easily removed.
Caution
Unintended movements of the actuator rod during assembly can cause damage.
• Before starting assembly work, make sure the compressed air and power
supply are switched off and the actuator of the process valve is pressureless.
• Secure the system against accidental restart.
To attach the actuator (
section 4), an adapter plate is enclosed with the C-TOP+.
The adapter plate has 2 through-holes to facilitate mounting. When mounting
make sure the connection surfaces and seals are clean.
Before fitting
1. Make sure the power supply and pressure are switched off.
2. Secure system against accidental restart.
Mounting the sealing rings, adapter plate and magnet
The actuator must first be prepared for the mounting of the C-TOP+.
1. Lightly grease the sealing ring (
nitrile rubber O-rings.
2. Insert sealing rings in the appropriate slot of the adapter plate.
– Sealing ring a in the slot on the bottom of the adapter plate
– Sealing ring b in the side slot of the adapter plate
3. Place adapter plate on the actuator and attach with the two enclosed mounting
screws (M5) – tightening torque 0.7 Nm ±10%.
