Power can be of two types:
- rated, given on the unit plate
- reduced.
Refer to the BURNERS table for the nozzles.
If further check of power is needed, use a counter and
follow the "volumetric method. "
Usually a check of the correct functioning of nozzles is
sufficient.
Check input pressure (Fig.1)
The input pressure must be measured by a gauge (min. 0.1
mbar resolution). Remove the screw (A) from the pressure
fitting and connect the gauge: after measuring, retighten
the screw so that it's absolutely airtight (A).
IMPORTANT: pressure must be checked with all gas units
connected and operating.
Check the power in accordance to the volumetric method
Using a gas counter and a stopwatch, measure the gas
consumption in a given unit of time. This value will be
compared with the value E which is calculated as follows:
Burner power
E =
Gas heating power
It's important that the power is measured when the
appliance is in a state of inertia.
Both rated and reduced powers, calculated at the rated
pressure value, are obtained by referring to the "BURNERS"
table. The value of gas heating power can be obtained
from the local gas company.
Checking the operation
Ensure that the type of nozzles used corresponds to
that shown in the "BURNERS" table. Check whether the
pressure reducer has a flow rate greater than the sum of
the consumption flow rate of all connected equipment.
Make sure that the gas supply pipes are adequate.
Checking the pilot light
When correctly adjusted, the pilot light will completely
surround the thermocouple; if it does not, check to see if
the used injector is suitable for the type of gas.
Checking primary air (Fig. 2)
Regulation is performed with a Venturi pipe by adjusting
the "X" height shown in the "BURNERS" table and verifying
that the aspect of the flame is uniform, well ventilated and
not noisy.
Adjusting the low point control (Fig. 3)
After having removed the control panel, adjust the low
flame screw (B):
- when using LPG, it should be fully screwed down;
- for operation with methane:
1- Locate the knob of the corresponding cock.
2- Turn the burner on and turn it to the minimum output
position.
3- Adjust the minimum flow rate with screw B. Unscrew to
increase and tighten to decrease the flow rate.
4- Once the flame judged as suitable for a minimum
setting has been obtained, check that it corresponds to
the minimum flow indicated in the table on burners.
5- If power is lower than the table, further loosen the
minimum screw and repeat the check.
6- If the power is greater than the value indicated in the
table, tighten the minimum flow screw and repeat the
check.
Checking the functions
- Start the appliance;
- Check the gas pipes for leaks;
- Check the burner flame, even at the minimum.
Notes for the installer
- Explain and demonstrate to the user how the appliance
works according to the instructions and hand him the
user's manual.
- Remind the user that, in the event of any structural
alterations or modifications to the room that houses the
appliance, the appliance functions must be rechecked.
Operation with other gas types
To switch to another type of gas, for example from
methane gas to liquid gas, refer to the "BURNERS" table to
identify the nozzles to be utilized, The diameter measure
is in hundredths of a mm and is specified per each nozzle.
The nozzles are contained in a bag and delivered with the
unit.
After changing or adjusting the nozzles, carry out all
the operational checks described within the paragraph
"Checking functions".
Replacement of the burner nozzles
Remove the panel by unscrewing the screws in view at
the lower edge or in front; remove the nozzles and replace
them with suitable ones according to the "BURNERS" table.
Regulation of the pilot flame in lava stone gas models
s. 600 (Drawing 4.1)
The pilot light operates with a nozzle and fixed air. The only
requested operation is to replace the nozzles according
to the gas type as follows:
- Remove the control panel by loosening the fixing screws
(where necessary).
- Loosen the nut pressing the biconical coupling (no. C);
remove it and the pilot nozzle (n. D).
- Replace the pilot nozzle with the correct nozzle, refer to
the "BURNERS" table.
- After replacing the pilot nozzle, retighten the nut
pressing the biconical coupling (n. C) with the relevant
biconical coupling.
Regulation of the pilot flame in lava stone gas models
s. 700/900 (Drawing 5.1)
The pilot light has nozzles and fixed airflow. The only thing
that has to be done is to change the nozzles according to
the type of gas, proceeding as follows:
- Unscrew the biconical pressure nut (n. 4) and the pilot
nozzle (n. 9).
- Replace the pilot nozzle with an appropriate one after
checking the "BURNERS" table.
- After changing the pilot nozzle, screw down the biconical
