G-Lock
Assembly Instructions
INTRODUCTION
In order to fabricate a socket using the G-Lock, either the Thermoplastic Tooling (Part No. 700-GL492) or Lamination Tooling (Part No. 700-GL491)
is required.
The G-Lock is shipped with five Post Stickers, which are used in the fabrication of thermoplastic sockets. The Post Stickers are not required for
the fabrication of laminated sockets.
EXPOSURE TO LIQUIDS
Though this WillowWood component is resistant to fresh water splashes, light sprays, and sanitizing with damp cloths, it is not rated for prolonged
exposure to moisture or liquids such as partial or total immersion in water (as in swimming, bathing, and showering). This product is also not rated
for any exposure to pressure sprays, salt water, chlorinated water, soap, or any liquid with chemical content.
ASSEMBLY
1.
Finish all edges of socket in normal
manner to prevent discomfort to wearer.
2.
Clean the interior of socket thoroughly,
to prevent dirt or debris from allowing air
to bypass the G-Lock.
3.
Insert the G-Lock into the socket, lining up
the four holes in the G-Lock with the four
holes in the socket. It may be necessary
to apply some petroleum jelly to the
O-Ring surface to help the seal slide
into the socket void. Apply Loctite 242
Removable Threadlocker (or equivalent)
to the Button and to end of the Lock
Rod that threads into the lock. Install the
Lock Rod and Button into the lock. Do
not let the threadlocker come in contact
with the Button Retention Device.
Note: If the O-Ring around the outside of
the G-Lock is not sealing properly: 1) Pull
the O-Ring out of its groove; 2) Install
the two Expansion Rings (rubber bands)
that were included in the Tooling Kit into
the groove; 3) Re-install the O-Ring. The
O-Ring will now extend farther out from
the surface of the G-Lock, resulting in a
tighter seal.
4.
Attach the desired WillowWood 4-hole
adapter to the socket. Check to make
sure that the length of exposed screw
to engage with the G-Lock is between
.4" (10 mm) and .6" (15 mm).
The length of exposed screw to
engage with the G-Lock must be
between .4" (10 mm) and .6" (15 mm).

Instructions
5.
For a socket that will be used as
definitive prosthesis:
• Apply Loctite 242 Removable
Threadlocker (or equivalent) to the
screws, and torque the screws to 9
ft-lbs (12 Nm).
• Apply Loctite 242 Removable
Threadlocker (or equivalent) to threads
on the pin and tighten the pin into the
Alpha
Locking Liner until the base of
®
the pin meets the umbrella.
Note: be sure to use the gold-colored
pin that is supplied with the G-Lock.
The silver-colored pins that are supplied
with the Alpha Lock and the Alpha
Lamination Lock are not compatible
with the G-Lock.
NOTE: The Pin Seal must come in
contact with the proximal end of the
unit in order to form a proper seal.
If the Pin is too long, grind to the
appropriate length, leaving a minimum
of five ribs.
When trimming the Pin to length, grind the Distal
Rib to a smaller diameter to ease Lock engagement.
• Have the patient don the Alpha
Locking Liner and the prosthesis. To
ensure that the pin is secured in place
at the closest groove, turn the Button
Retention Device clockwise until it
contacts the lock body.
Button
Retention
Device
• To remove the prosthesis, turn the
Button Retention Device counterclock-
wise until the button can be pushed in.
Press the button to release the lock.
WARRANTY
The warranty for the G-Lock is one year from
the date of invoice. Use of the G-Lock for
amputees whose modified body weight is
more than 250 lbs (115 kg) or who engage in
extremely high and abusive activity is against
WillowWood's recommendations and will void
the one-year warranty. Modified body weight
is defined as the weight of the amputee plus
any loads carried normally or routinely by
the amputee. "Extremely high and abusive
activities" are defined as activities such as sky-
diving, karate, and judo; activities that could
result in injury to an individual's natural limb;
and activities that expose the prosthesis to
corrosives such as salt water.
