Shoulder action
Intended use
medi Shoulder action is a shoulder joint
brace with defined limitation of the
range of motion.
Indications
All indications which require
reinforcement and stabilisation of
physiological shoulder joint movement,
such as:
• Mild to middling instability of the
shoulder joint
• Conservative treatment following
acute and habitual dislocated shoulder
or subluxation
• 2. Rehabilitation phase following
operative therapy for shoulder
instability
Contra-indications
All indications that require positioning in
abduction or external rotation
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause
local pressure sores or constriction of
blood vessels or nerves. Therefore you
should consult the doctor treating you
before you use it if the following
circumstances apply to you:
• Condition or injury of the skin in the
area of application, particularly with
infectious indications (excessive heat,
swelling or reddening)
• Paraesthesia and circulatory disorders
(e.g. as seen in diabetes, varicose veins)
• Lymph drainage disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue adjacent to the
area of application which is not related
to a condition
When wearing snug-fitting aids, this can
result in localised skin inflammation or
irritation that is due to mechanical
irritation of the skin (particularly in
conjunction with sweating) or due to the
composition of the material.
Intended patient groups
Healthcare professionals should provide
care to the adults and children, applying
the available information on the
measurements/sizes and necessary
functions/indications and in line with
the information provided by the
manufacturer, and acting under their
own responsibility.
Instructions for putting the device on
• Place the affected arm in the sleeve of
the brace and align the shoulder cap so
that the affected shoulder is properly
enclosed (Fig. 1). The elastic band strap
that is fastened to the lower end of the
sleeve should run along the inner side
of the affected arm.
• Now close the small strap on the inside
of the upper arm (Fig. 2).
• Fasten both of the straps around the
chest on each other. To do this, guide
the end that comes out of the back
under the armpit of the unaffected
arm and fasten it in front of the breast
(Fig. 3).
• Then tighten the elastic band strap
which comes from the back side and
fasten it to the front of the brace too
(Fig. 4 & 5). You can further limit
external rotation and abduction by
tensioning this band strap.
• As an option, you can now limit the
range of motion further by attaching
the additional belt included in the
package. To do this, fasten the
hook-and-loop end on the upper arm
and the other hook-and-loop end on
the chest (Fig. 6).
Care instructions
Hook and loop fasteners should be
closed for washing. Soap residues,
