CAUTION
Risk of burns in the proximity of fire. Falling embers can make supports,
rests, plates, shells, pads, belts, covers or cushions begin to smoulder and
thus cause fire.
Keep the flip-down abductor away from all sources of ignition, especially
lit cigarettes.
1.3 Function
The 446C1 Flip-Down Abductor provides abduction of the thighs of a
wheelchair or seating system user with the desired abduction angle and
can thus support a better sitting position.
After opening the screw connection (Fig. 1, item B), the abductor pad
(Fig. 1, item A) can be swung down (Fig. 2) and adjusted in depth through
the attachment (Fig. 1, item C). The abductor pad should be positioned
between the knees.
2 Handling
2.1 Assembly
The assembly may only be carried out by specialized staff.
The hardware (Fig. 1, item C) is to be mounted exclusively to stable seat
frames or stable plates using appropriate screws.
The abductor should be positioned between the knees. In no case, the
abductor serves to prevent the pelvis from slipping out of the wheelchair
or seating system. For this purpose, an appropriate pelvis fixation system
is required.
2.2 Instructions for use
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to the abductor. To exclude injuries of the user (and
possible material damage), flip down the abductor by pulling the release
bolt before each lifting the user into and out of the wheelchair or into
and out of the seating unit .
When the user is seated, the abductor must be flipped up until the release
bolt completely locks into position.
