HANDLING
1. OPENING AND FOLDING. (Fig 4, 5, Pag. 2)
Opening: Rest both hands on each of the seat upholstery support rails and press down until the seat and back
upholsteries become tight. Lower the footplates into the using position. As a safety measure, the footplates
should always be in an upright position before sitting or getting out of the chair in a forward movement.
Warning; Do not place your fingers between the seat upholstery and the seat tubes when opening or
folding the wheelchair
Folding: Lift up the footplates. Grasp the centre of the seat upholstery from behind and in front, lifting the seat
upwards. This will cause the chair to fold up by its own weight.
2. ELEVATING LEGRESTS (Std. in Mod.4001,4031) optional in other models (Ref. 21) (Fig.6 , pag.2)
Rotation of the legrest padding : If the padding is not to be used or the chair is to be folded, manually push
the padding forward while turning it 90 degrees. When it is to be used once again, manually turn it towards the
centre of the chair.
To lift: Press the black button and push the legrest upwards to the desired position.
To lower: Press the black button so that the leg rest can be lowered to the desired position.
3. BACKRESTS
3.1 Folding backrests (Ref. 4010 and 4015) (Fig 7, pag 2)
To fold the backrest, pull upwards the locking piece (A) and then pull downwards the back rest. To assemble:
Pull upwards the back rest and pull downwards the plastic piece (A) to lock it and to secure it in this position.
3.2 Reclining backrest (Refs; 4001,4021,4031,4041,3013,3018) (fig. 8, pag.2)
Lowering the backrest: Loose the screw knobs (C) at the bottom of the racks. Lift the two handgrips (A)
upwards at the same time, while keeping the chair steady by its handles. This movement releases the lower
racks (B) from their housings leaving the backrest free to be reclined. Hold the backrest firmly to prevent it from
dropping suddenly. If this should happen, quickly let go off the handgrips (A) so that the racks fall into place and
prevent it from falling. With the handgrips (A) in an upward position, adjust the backrest to the desired angle
using the racks' notches. Once this angle has been obtained, ensure that the racks have slipped into their
notches (this operation should be done to prevent accidents caused by a sudden drop of the backrest). Release
the handgrips(A). Tighten the screw at the bottom of the racks.
Warning: After the third rack (indicated with a red mark) the posterior stability of the chair is reduced, so
proceed carefully.
Raising the backrest; Proceed in the same way as for reclining the back rest.
Warning: Before raising the backrest, be sure that the user's hands or arms are not between the seat and
the reclined backrest, to avoid the risk of trapping them when raising the backrest.
3.3. Reclining backrests for folding chair with headrest (Mod 4001,4031) (fig.9, pag. 2)
Tensioning of backrest: Once the chair has been unfolded, place the strip (B) on the knob's screw (A) taking
care that the strip's notch fits perfectly into the knob's screw. Manually tighten the knob (A). This tensioning
operation should always be carried out before using the chair.
Untensioning of the backrest: Loosen the knob (A) by turning it several times but without removing it completely.
Pull the strip (B) upwards. This operation must be carried out in order to fold the chair.
