Resistance measurement

Resistance measurements are necessary
for checking
- the "secondary circuit" of the ignition
system (measurement of interference
sup-pression resistors)
- the cabling (continuity check)
4.4.1 Connections
Any work on the ignition system may
only be carried out when the engine is
at a standstill and the ignition is
disconnected (see also "Information
for your safety", page 17).
In order not to receive corrupt
measurements when measuring the
resistance, the resistor or component
to be measured should be removed
from the circuit/vehicle. If this is not
possible, the resistor/component
must at least be isolated from the
voltage supply in the vehicle.
Connect the yellow and green clips to the
contacts of the resistor or component to be
measured.

Measurement of interference-sup-
pression resistors
Crocodile clips (see Special accessories)
must be used to connect the resistor
between the two clips of the tester.
4.4.2 Setting
Set the measurement-mode selector
switch to position kΩ.
4.4.3 Reading off
• KTE 1.03/1.07
Resistance in kΩ.
Note
If the dots flash on the digital display, then
the resistance is greater than 100 kΩ!
Any figures which may appear on the
display are invalid!
• KTE 1.05/1.06
Scale diagram
Measuring range 0 to ∞ kΩ.
