Chapter 2,
Operation
1. Verify that tubing is connected and power is supplied.
2. Verify that automatic regulator is ON.
The calibration cylinder concentrations must match
the instrument calibration setting; otherwise, instrument
readings may be incorrect.
3. Insert instrument into the test station.
NOTE: The following test sequence occurs:

Test Sequence

Alarm Test

• Audible alarm and visual alarm functions are checked
• ALARM TEST LED lights
• LED flashes amber during test
• Green LED indicates passing
• Red LED indicates failure
• Solid amber LED indicates that Altair 4 alarms
are turned OFF.

Gas Test

• Sensor response to gases is verified
• GAS TEST LED lights
• LED flashes amber during test
• Green LED indicates passing
• Red LED indicates failure.

Overall Pass/Fail Test Indication

• PASS OR FAIL LED lights
• Green LED indicates passing
• Red LED indicates failure
• Checkmark symbol appears on the instrument display
when it is successfully bump checked
