The iron may smoke slightly when switched on for the first time - this
is normal and will soon cease.
If the iron remains unused for a long period of time (a few weeks), we
suggest that the steam button (10) be pressed for about 30 seconds
with the iron in horizontal position, as to clean the internal steam
ducts, before you start your ironing session.
It is not necessary to completely fill the boiler tank for short ironing
sessions. One measure (or less) of water is sufficient as to reduce
the waiting time and save electric energy.
DRY IRONING
To iron without steam ,first connect the appliance to the mains
supply, press the switch(5), then select the desired temperature by
turning the thermostat knob(9).Wait until the pilot lamp(11) goes
off, indicating that the desired temperature has been reached.
For dry ironing it is not necessary to press the steam button (10).
Temperature selection
First of all, check if there is a label with ironing instructions attached
to the article to be ironed. Compare the symbol on the label with the
table below.
If ironing instructions are missing, but you are familiar with the fabric,
the table below may help you.
The table refers to fabrics that have been sized. If the fabrics have
not been sized, they may be ironed at a lower temperature.
Suggestions
Sort the items to be ironed according to the varying fabrics: wool with
wool, cotton with cotton, etc. Start by ironing the fabrics that require
lower temperatures and progressively work up to the fabrics that
requirehigher temperatures, as the iron heats up quicker than it cools
down.
If the fabric consists of various kinds of fibres, always select the tem-
perature according to the fibre that requires the least heat. For ins-
tance, if the fabric consists of 70% synthetic fibres and 30% cotton,
set the temperature to ( l ) (see table) without steam, as for synthetic
fabrics.
