9. SAFETY DEVICES

• Dead man's system: The jack is fitted with a "dead man's" safety operating system. Ascent or descent operations are
immediately interrupted when the relevant controls are released.
• Compensated valve: This valve adjusts (controls) the descent speed of the jack.
• Maximum pressure valve: This valve, which is located in the hydraulic distributor, is triggered when the jack is overloaded.
• Mechanical rack: The mechanical rack, which is comprised of eight pairs of teeth, mechanically and safely stops any
accidental, uncontrolled descent of the jack.

10. INSTALLATION AND ASSEMBLY

Before installing the jack, remove the packaging and check the goods.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

- The jack must be be installed in a closed environment, keeping the required safety distances from the walls, columns,
other machines, vehicles etc.
- The jack must be fixed to the ground by means of the anchors.
- A minimum distance of 1.00 m beyond the SAFETY AREA must be kept from the walls, considering the amount of space
required to work comfortably. The amounts of space required for the workstation and the escape routes to be used in case
of emergencies should also be considered.
- The jack can be placed on any floor, provided that it is perfectly flat, horizontal (tolerance ±0.5°) and strong enough: min.:
100 kg x cm2.
- The room must have been prepared for power supply.
- Power connection must be provided through trained staff.
- The mains system must comply with provisions.
- Check that the electric system is connected to the mains earth.
While the jack is going up/down, both the jack and its load must be constantly checked.
ADJUSTING MECHANICAL SAFETY CATCH
The mechanical safety catch can be adjusted as follows:
- Magnet (A) must touch safety plate (B);
- Adjusting screw (C) must be so adjusted that, as soon as jack (E) (while going down) gets past the last tooth (D) of the
rack, it comes into contact with the base.
As a result, safety plate (B) comes off the magnet and drops onto the rack.
1) To make contact with safety plate (B) easier, magnet (A) MUST NOT BE FIXED to support (F). On the contrary, a
minimum distance of 1.5 mm must be kept (see Figure) between the nut fixed to magnet (A) and support (F);
2) To improve the effect of magnet (A), the surfaces of magnet (A) and safety plate (B) must be clean (free from
impurities).
