Fitting and removing SofTec® Dorso
Fitting:
• Before fitting, the product is adapted to the patient by the orthopedic technician.
• Put on the orthosis like a backpack, passing your arms through the shoulder straps.
• Ensure that the orthosis is correctly positioned (Fig. 1)!
• Place the fingers in the specially provided finger pockets on the two broad, light-grey fastener halves
in the abdominal area and pull fastener forward uniformly.
• Press the left half of the fastener against the abdomen and pull the right half over it to secure the
Velcro® fastening (Fig. 2).
• When securing the Velcro® fastening, remove the fingers from the left pocket first, followed by the right (Fig. 3).
• Take the two lower LPT (Low Power Tension) straps in both hands and pull forward at the same time
to produce the correct level of force and secure both LPT straps against the large Velcro® fastening.
Repeat this process for the upper LPT tension straps (Fig. 4).
• To achieve the desired correction / stability, place the thumbs in the specially provided red loops on
the pre-adjusted shoulder straps and pull the straps forward and down (Fig. 5). When the upper body is
straightened as required, secure the ends of the straps against the abdominal Velcro® fastening (Fig. 6).
• If you notice an unpleasant sensation of pressure below the shoulder strap, the accompanying pads
can be fitted to the shoulder straps to absorb the pressure.
• Check the correct positioning of SofTec® Dorso: The orthosis must be positioned as low as possible
without pressing unpleasantly against the groin area while seated upright.
• During the first fitting of the orthosis, the optimal, individual fit must be checked, and if
necessary corrected, by a trained specialist. Correct fitting should be practiced with the patient.
Removal:
• Unfasten the shoulder straps from the abdominal fastening and refasten further up on the shoulder strap.
• Unfasten the LPT tension straps (first the upper followed by the lower straps) and then refasten
without any tension.
• Open the large, light-grey fastener.
• Remove the orthosis and refasten the light-grey fastener.
• For easier handling of SofTec® Dorso, always fasten any opened fasteners directly on the product.
