• Ideal working conditions are achieved if the trimmer is
tilted to the left at an angle approx. of 30°.
9. Prolongation of the cutting thread
Check the nylon line regularly if it is damaged or if it still
has the correct length. If line adjustment is necessary:
Model S: (fig. 7)
Switch off the device. Open the lock by pushing down
the coil (2) and turning it anti - clockwise at the same
time. Pull the nylon thread tight. Then fix the coil anew
in the cutting head by turning it to the right and pushing it
down at the same time.
Model A / DA: (fig. 8 + 9)
When cutting performance deteriorates: Hold the running
trimmer above a patch of grass. Tap the cutting head on
the ground (fig. 8). Note the fresh line will be advanced
only if line(s) is (are) still at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) long. If
the line(s) is (are) shorter: Switch off the trimmer, discon-
nect plug from power supply. Press in the spool and pull
end of line(s) firmly outwards (fig. 9). If end of line(s) is
(are)not visible - see point 10 (replacement of spool).
Your trimmer has a thread cutting blade that continuously
cuts the thread down to the appropriate length (fig.10).
Note: Clean the thread cutting blade from grass re-
mainders in order to guarantee an unaffected cutting
performance.
Attention: Danger of injury through the cutting blade !
10. Replacing the thread coil
Model S: (fig. 7)
Switch the device off and unplug it. Hold fast the lower
part of the cutting head 1. Now push the coil 2 down and
turn it a quarter of a whole revolution to the left. Under
the coil, a pressure spring is installed. Please take care
that this spring it properly put into place when you re-
place the coil. Take out the empty coil. Put in a new coil
and turn it to the right while pushing it down until it is full
engaged. If you want to roll a new thread onto the empty
coil, please take care that the thread is coiled up in equal
wraps. Only coil up the thread in the direction indicated
by the arrow. Do not forget to lead the thread through one
of the four openings 3.
Model A / DA: (fig. 11 + 12)
First, switch off and unplug the device. Wait until the
nylon thread has come to a halt. Then push the two
locking devices 1 at the sides of the cutting head, and
remove the cutting head cover 2 (fig. 11). Remove the
used thread coil and put in comes out of each outlet at
the sides of the cutting head (fig. 12). Please take care
that the spring 4 is properly seated under the thread
coil. Finally, close the cover by pushing it in its seat. Both
locks must properly engage.
11. Trouble shooting
• Trimmer does not work: Check power supply (e.g.
by testing on another socket or by means of a voltage
tester). Should it still not work, although the socket is
o.k., send it undismantled to an authorised service sta-
tion for repair.
• Cutting line disappears into spool: Remove spool
(acc. to point 10), pull end of line through the metal
outlet and reinsert spool. In case nylon line is used up
insert a new spool with line.
Do not make any other repairs on your own; have your
trimmer checked and repaired by an authorised service
station.
12. Storing
• Clean the unit thoroughly, especially the cooling air
slots on the motor housing.
• Do not use water to clean the device.
• Store trimmer indoors in a dry, high or locked place and
keep out of reach of children.
13. Waste disposal and environmental protec-
tion
If your grass trimmer should become useless some-
where in the future or you do not need it any longer, do
not dispose of the device together with your domestic
refuse, but dispose of it in an environmentally friendly
manner. Please dispose of the device itself at an accord-
ing collecting/recycling point. By doing so, plastic and
metal parts can be separated and recycled. Information
concerning the disposal of materials and devices are
available from your local administration.
14. Repair service
Repairs to electric power tools should only be carried out
by a specialised electrician.
