Electrical connection
Warning
Risk of accident if the machine is ope-
rated using unauthorised voltages or
frequencies.
- The mains voltage and the frequency of
the power source must correspond with
the specifi cations on the machine's name
plate.
- In North America, only Festool machines
with a voltage specifi cation of 120 V/60 Hz
may be used.
• Attach the mains cable to the connector
[1-1] [Fig. 3].
• Connect the plug on the mains cable to a
power socket.

Operation

Warning
Risk of accident - read the following
prior to operation:
• The indicator on the vacuum gauge [1-3]
must remain within the green sector at
all times. As soon as the indicator enters
the red sector, stop work immediately
and rectify the cause of the fault (see
"Chap. 13 Fault rectifi cation").
• Make sure that all covers, protective
grilles, hoods, etc. supplied with the ma-
chine are fi tted and closed.
• Make sure that all installation require-
ments are fulfi lled at all times, especially
those regarding adequate cooling.
Working method
• Switch on the pump at the switch [1-2]
(I = ON, 0 = OFF).
• Connect a vacuum hose to the connector
[2-2].
• Wait until the indicator on the vacuum
gauge [1-3] is within the green sector.
The machine is now ready for operation.
• After use, switch off the pump at the on/off
switch [1-2].

Service and maintenance
Warning
Risk of accident, electric shock
Always pull the plug out of the socket
before performing any type of work on
the machine.
All maintenance and repair work which
requires the housing to be opened must
only be carried out by an authorised ser-
vice workshop.
Check the plug and the cable regularly
and should either become damaged, have
them replaced by an authorised after-
sales service workshop.
To ensure constant air circulation, always
keep the ventilation openings [1-4] on the
pump container clean and free of blockages.
The slides (fi ns) on the dry-running rotary
vane pump wear during operation and must
be replaced after 5000 - 8000 operating
hours. Replacement is necessary if the [2-2]
connection is closed off with a protective cap
[2-3] and the indicator on the vacuum gauge
[1-3] indicates less than -0.7 bar.
The slide valve should be changed by an
authorised service workshop only.
Changing the air fi lter
We recommend changing the air fi lter [4-1]
every 12 months to avoid damage to the
pump.
• Open the SYSTAINER.
• Pull the air fi lter out of the holder slightly
[Fig. 4].
• Remove the clips [4-2] using a screwdriver,
for example.
• Remove the old fi lter.
• Slide the clips accompanying the new air
fi lter over the two connecting hoses on the
air fi lter.
• Slide both hoses all the way onto the con-
nections on the new air fi lter. Pay attention
to the direction of the arrow on the fi lter.
• Make sure that the distance between
the end of the hose and the hose clip is
5 mm.
• Turn the screws [4-3] on the clips fi rmly to
secure the hoses to the air fi lter.
• Press the air fi lter back into its holder.
• Close the SYSTAINER.
